the original movie is from 2008 and it has a 48% audience score and 49% critics reviews on rotten tomatoes.Daaamn was the movie THAT bad?
it's not even 20 years old and they're doing a remake. and it currently sits at 13% on critics reviews and 42% audience score. if you google the movie, it'll show you it has a 2.5 stars rating, with most ratings being 1 star.
it was the remake of a movie that didn't get good reviews, it was never gonna be any good
wikipedia says it's the same budget as the original. we'll see if it'll also reach the $82 million in box office. The budget is less than 9 million... and I don't think they've spent too much on advertising so they'll easily make a profit on this one
I don't know about the others tho
as for the scrapping it for tax purposes. they won't be doing it to this one, they've already released it, i don't think they can do that with released films(the movies wb did this with were like the batwoman one and the willie coyote ones that were fully ready to be released and then scrapped for "tax purposes"). but the other 2 chapters can end up getting that treatment from this movie doing poorly.
people need to go and watch the movie in order for it to make profit. and unlike with the original, now we're on the age of everything is online, and so people can easily find out the movie is crap and not bother watching, whilst before there was a higher likelihood of people just going to watch it to check it out
