Oh it was more than a rumor, back in the day I remember reading an article that named the guy he got in an altercation with and the guy it was over. Also, James Caan's comment to the press about the incident was very telling.

I do have to commend Nick Jonas for getting people to believe he might actually be into men because it was so clearly just an attempt to try and get the gays on his side to jumpstart his solo music career and it worked! Truly a masterclass in queerbaiting. He would literally only entertain the idea of being with men in relation to trying to sell something like that tv show he was on or posing for gay magazines to sell his albums. People to this day believing he might be closeted even tho it was just a very blatant marketing attempt.

Idk I remember Bowen Yang talking in an interview about trying to get Nick Jonas on SNL for a sketch kind of referencing this, but got a note back from Nick's publicist saying like "Nick is very sensitive about doing anything that may be perceived as queerbaiting." I think he was just feeding the only audience that was slightly caring about his solo career and it may have gotten out of hand.

Adding to my comment above, I don’t know how Taron Egerton reacts around women. I do know that the way he look at Hugh Jackman was with full lust. You could see in his eyes he was thinking about naughty things. He even liked his lips too.
