Agree with Fmax's comments. I would say gay characters are more than "token" represented on the series at least, and there's a nice story arc (won't spoil much here) on one of them (a mechanic, family business) for example. Watch it, though, if you like some hot guy eye candy in the actors (you might see from this LPSG thread there is no shortage!) and immersing yourself in a series that admittedly can be pretty melodramatic and stretched-out pacing-wise (i.e. 13 episodes per season in what a movie or even a TV movie might do more "efficiently"; this didn't bother me as much as season 1 and season 2 unfolded, but I notice season 3 is really "stretching" at times).
