You need to crawl out from under your rock then.
They generally do a reasonable job of picking people from different ages so no matter who you are, you'll be familiar with at least a couple. They've never really picked big stars, usually D listers and sports figures.

I can't emphasize enough how important it is to put the blame on the site itself. They are the ones who allow and knowingly profit off of scams. Performers will never change unless they are required to.
