Hippie Hollow

Oh wow! This brings back many memories! We were always warned to stay away from that place when we were little. Of course, that means we had to go!

I did get brave enough once to go natural, but it didn't last long. Just had to say I did it!

P.S. I grew up about 10 miles from there.

Oh how I wanted to go there!

We were with some friends at a restaurant overlooking Lake Travis called The Oasis. It's a popular local Tex-Mex place that is actually within view of Hippie Hollow albeit from a distance. Sipping delicious Margaritas with our friends (who didn't know we were nudists) the adjacent table started talking about "that nude beach yonder" with the usual double entendre jokes about breasts and penis size. That entire dinner my wife shot don't you dare say anything stares in my direction so our nudist lifestyle remained secret.

As a result Hippie Hollow is still on our "to do" list.

I think I ate my first filet mignon at The Oasis when I was in high school.

It's not a day trip for me, but rather a weekend or long weekend excursion to Austin, but I've been to the county park many, many times, over many, many years. I'd rather drop the bibs at a resort in Jamaica or at a resort in Florida, but when a weekend is all I have, it will do. There are unofficial "sides" where the gay and straight tend to congregate. I just have to watch when I leave because some folks are wannabe stalkers and seem to want to follow me.

Oh, and if you visit, bring a folding chair/recliner. Also gets you above the insects. This is not a manicured tourist spot. The rocky shoreline is not a sandy beach, and good sandals, not flip flops, will save your feet. I use a pair of Chaco's, vibram soles and the thin webbing is great, no real water retention, and they are fine to swim in and the soles help on the rocks getting in and out of the water.

I still think of this, 6 months later, and still forget her4 name ...
