Says the one spouting stupid nonsense. You're great at it. However, your observance of the world is very idiotic.
since i noticed this thread getting bumped, i figure i may as well clarify some things for any future reader.
you and the person you're responding to are both not wrong but you're talking about different things.
what you're both pointing out isn't much different from what happens in the west. i'll take the US for example.
in the US, it's pretty obvious that there's a greater emphasis on muscularity in masculinity and being attractive, although i'll emphasize attractiveness here for clarity. you see it ALL the time in media -- porn, fashion magazines/covers, movies, historical tropes (the athletic jock, frat boy, sometimes guy next door, gym teacher, coach, the list goes on). there's an emphasis on having a "harder" look.
but that DOES NOT MEAN that anything outside of that aesthetic is considered not masculine, or not attractive. and, as an example, the people the media hope to target with these images of masculinity and attractiveness for men, will in fact find both that type of image attractive and appealing, as well as many others outside of it.
in other words, there are certain types of aesthetics for men that get pushed in a widespread manner in the US, but that doesn't really detract from other images too, that will also reach the masses, often, as well.
lots of types men of exist in the US that are considered attractive and it's not like the people who would find them attractive are all playing on exactly one team. frankly, most people would find most types of men attractive.
and in asia, with each country, it's the same. each country's culture push a type of image for an attractive man (through mass media or cultural trends), and that type of imagery appears more widespread as a "cultural standard" than it might be in actuality. some cultures have similar imagery that gets pushed, others not as much, and others are just totally different.
what the person you're responding to noticed is a pretty common observation of what's seen in the media in some asian countries, even among other asians. it's not a statement on asians themselves, but culturally, what asian men might encounter. it doesn't detract from the fact that they'll still come across all types of attractive men, and that they're all very much popular in asia.
just like how in the US you'll commonly see shredded bodies being pushed as attractive, you'll definitely also see more leaner, thinner bodies or the "pretty boy" types being pushed as well. they all exist in the same cultural space.
and it's the same idea in different asian countries.
