I asked one guy out for a drink. I met him on a beach. It is a gay friendly beach but a lot of straight couples frequent it. He was on his own and we were chatting. As he was starting to pack up his belongings and head home I plucked up the courage and asked him if he would like to have a drink later. I saw a flicker of awareness/panic come over him and he said no. I was pretty mortified. It took a lot to ask. If you can cope with him coming in every day for a coffee and it being awkward then go for it.
