I think "small dating pools" in most examples are really more of an exercise in how wet a person is willing to get, than a function of how much water is in the actual pool.

Not for me. I wish to drown, I'm so desperate. I'm not afraid of the water at all and I wanted to get soaked lol.

The dating pool is literally small/fucked up.

A gay black guy made a post on Reddit a while ago, saying he's attracted to country white guys, and let's say the responses as fucking cringy as hell, and I don't even have to say or do anything (I'm banned from Reddit unfairly/over a misunderstanding) so I can't post/comment anyways. But yeah.

And see this is where I diverge from most, because I think here's only one demographic of folks that can objectively make this claim, I think everyone else, you included, has a vast pool to pick from, you are simply unsatisfied or unappreciative of the multitude of options available to you.
Personally I believe if you have any decent percentage of people open to casual sex with you, you have a fair probability of leveraging a long term committed relationship, and that only those whom do not have ready access to (not simply a disdain for) casual encounters can make an accurate observation of a shallow dating pool.
