Agreed. I'm sorry that he's clearly dealing with some serious psychological issues and I hope he can overcome them. That said, since he's done this kind of thing before, it's starting to feel more like a repetitive, misguided cry for attention than an indication that he intends to do himself real harm. Maybe rather than making more OF vids and posting IG selfies, he should spend some extra time in therapy. I hope he pulls his life together.

Let’s be honest threatening to unalive one’s self isn’t a cry for attention in the same way others seek attention through social media. He’s definitely not doing himself any favours. Also just because someone doesn’t follow through on threats doesn’t mean they aren’t serious. At the end of the day taking a step back from social media and committing to getting help is the right thing to do here. I’d be more inclined to say he did this for attention if he’d tried to continue as if his account was simply hacked.

I understand that you find the term "attention seeking" to be rather icky, as it is most often used with contempt. However desperate need for attention can be also seen as a need for some kind of intervention when one is unable to help themselves which is quite typical in presuicidal crisis. I've sadly seen it many times. When you're not empathetic such behaviour might be treated as irritating and pathetic while actually it's a sign of helplessness. That's why I'm not angry at the term "attention seeking" as it is just that "please see me, I hurt too bad to take care of myself".
