One thing the show had going for it was a limited budget. I was amazed at how much they were able to do and none of it took me out of the show. There's a way to do effects that enhance instead of invent and they really nailed it. Everything was incredibly tasteful.

A lot of shows and movies could do with managing their budgets better for effects, CGI and practical stuff.

When I saw the ads I did NOT think I'd like Rexstrew's character at all. I thought he'd be like Giles or Wesley from the Buffyverse. But he added just the right amount of queerness to his portrayal that it worked for me. He's wonderful.
