So I just found this thread on twitter about Jensen and apparently the dude is homophobic as fuck?
Makes me wonder if he is the reason closeted Soldier Boy from the comics who had sex with Homelander was turned into another macho, manly, toxic straight man. After reading that thread there is no way he would do the wanking scene with gay dudes having an orgy in front of him instead of older women.

Women were the ones who kept Supernatural on the air for 15 years. The most vocal, frankly rabid fans of that show were women., especially all the slash fanfic etc. They even joked about that several times on the show itself!

With The Boys there's definitely have more of an argument, but then I'd also bring up other "straight guy" shows like Sons of Anarchy and Animal Kingdom which had/have a lot of male nudity shown in a sexual, non comedic context.

Being uncomfortable does not depend whether you look good or not.
I've seen the most beautiful men in the gym obviously shy about being naked and I've seen the most dog ugly guys flash it about without the slightest hesitation.
You learn it's not just about the look and many facets go into someone's attitudes to situations/self nudity.
Ackles may just be a shy guy about most nudity. He may have issues about his perception of himself.
Just because one actor flashes it about(Quaid) doesn't mean the next guy has to or being equally comfortable doing it. From interviews I heard Kripke say he would be equally receptive to other actors who had issues with the nudity.

Ackles is from Texas.
His upbringing would likely have been quite conservative.
He never struck me as comfortable in interviews and he strikes me as not all that comfortable doing the con circuit. He does it and plays the part, but I always think he's rather be at home.
Some actors just like to do their in front of camera stuff and then lead a very private life away from the limelight and 'showbiz' stuff. Jared is a bit the opposite although he has his issues.

People forget that he did do a naked scene already. I think Karl Urban also only had one naked scene (and if I remember correctly it was equally disappointing) and some of the main cast didn't do any at all. So clearly it's not a requirement to be on the show.

I think Animal Kingdom is a great example of a 'guys' show that not only shows male nudity but has lots of gay sex scenes included in it that work with the show without turning of the straight guys watching since they've been doing it for 6 years (also is a great show)

yeah but by then kripke wasn't an executive producer after the first few seasons. his plan was for the show to end around s5. the network wanted the show to keep going. so others took the roles of producers, with kripke working more as a consultant, he's even credited as consultant past s6 instead of being producer.
so the show he created and ran for about 6 seasons was not made for women, or for gays, it was about 2 brothers hunting monsters. and while during those seasons he was running the show, it did gather a female and gay following, that was not its intended target demographic. and same thing applies to the boys

I just read on IMDb that Paul Reiser was actually supposed to do the scene with the two older women but didn't want to do it and ''gave'' it to Jensen.
So maybe that is also why he didn't do it naked, cause it wasn't originally part of the contract to do such a scene.
