This was his first televised match, but from his profile on the wrestling database this was his 8th overall match in his career. He didn't really get to show much here but I'm hopefully once he's had a lot more reps in from live events, they'll feel comfortable to officially debut him on the main NXT show.
A bit on the generic side right now, but the "boy next door" persona is probably something he can flesh out overtime especially as a face with the right direction.

Why the name change though? I like it, but why not just be Jonah, did they make him take a stage name? Just curious
With the exception of certain people everyone in WWE gets a stage name for copyright and trademark purposes.
