Josha Stradowski, Actor

The books are so that bad?
I've read the first three (of 14; and there is a prequel) and so far, I like them and they are getting better. According to fans of the book series, there is some kind of a slog from books 7-9 or so but to the end, they get better again. The last two or three books were written by Brandon Sanderson because Robert Jordan, the original author died.

Important to know: the TV series is an adaption of the general story, not an adaption of the books.

Then the TV series just focus in the principle parts and don't waste time with things don't matter?

So it would seem. Also, some events happen at a different point in the story. Season 2 mostly adapts the plot of the second books but I saw scenes and events from the third book fittet into the plot and apparently there are also scene from later books too.

Flashbacks and memories are put in their chronological place.

There also seems to be a prominent element in Fantasy that leans into torture porn, why is that?
The wheel of time does not have torture porn (yet), it just has torture a plenty, chock loads of torture. Those shirtless shots were from a brief moment of indulgence by Lanfear, overlaying more emotionally driven motivations, but it is far from being torture porn.

I don’t think you understand the meaning of torture porn - chock loads of torture = torture porn, there’s not actual porn in torture porn it’s when sadistic violence or torture is central to the plot. Fantasy just as easily could be about rainbows, unicorns, lightness and happiness, but so much of it leans into violence, aggression and actual depictions of torture.

Well, I would say that is more grimdark than torture porn.

Presumably. And there are a LOT of things from the books that don’t matter. Repeated descriptions and described actions being the most prominent.

He also might be an actor - shocking, I know!
Why would you be annoyed at someone else's speculations? Many queer actors play queer characters before being comfortable to talk about their queerness.

Does the possibility of him being queer ruin the straight boy fetish fantasy?

I don't care if Stradowski is queer or not. I am mostly annoyed by the genereal idea that the roles an actor plays has anything to do with their preferences. Yes, queer actor often played gay roles before publicy coming out. But over the years, many more straight actors have played gay or gay coded characters. So the inverse logic that he is likely queer because he played straight roles, just doesn't work.

But then, wild speculation needs no foundation in facts, so feel free to continue and to ignore me.

I never meant to pluck anyone's nerves.

As bi, the material I write reflects my sexuality - even down to the jobs I've taken as a writer. I never claimed to be an authority on anyone's sexuality, certainly not a thirst-forum where everything said is mostly tongue-in-cheek.

You didn't pluck my nerves and I am sorry for the fuss that came from my comment. I never had the impression you considered yourself an expert.

In my own annoying know-it-all way I wanted to add the possibility that his acting has nothing to do with his sexual preferences in a manner I also considered quite lighthearted. Obviously I failed.
