there's this kpop myth to not have a group name with a number in it because the members will leave one way or another..

example:

day6: debut - 6, now - 4 (this hurts me the most)
fromis_9: debut - 9, now - 8
seventeen: planned - 17, now - 13
onlyoneof: debut - 7, now - 6
2pm: debut - 7, now - 6
oneus: debut - 6, now - 5
secret number: debut - 7, now - 6 (it technically doesnt have a number, but it has the word "number" in it lol)
b1a4: debut - 5, now - 3

It’s 13 members, 3 units, 1 whole group - 13 + 3 + 1 = 17.

they were supposed to debut with 17 members but 4 of them had left before they debuted, the most well-known out of the 4 is samuel kim who left because he was too young to debut (back then). fortunately they found some workaround to explain why theyre called seventeen when theres only 13 members lol
