They didn't have full control of x-Men and other Fox properties until the deal was finalized in 2019 and then covid took place which threw a lot of things out of whack. You also have to consider that these kind of things take time and years to plan when they already had other stuff in motion. A lot of the OG avengers were considered C - grade characters that no one cared about but still became a surprising success. I would rather them take their time and get the script, storyline and cast right and not rush into itIt’s a disgrace that the MCU hasn’t brought its own new version of the X-men into the series.
After endgame it was the perfect time to start introducing the characters slowly… for example, a hulk wolverine teamup I. Canada or something… leading up to a big “X-Men” movie… which would basically have been the tent pole “Avengers” movie for Phase 4….
Then, Phase 5 could have built to a tent pole “avengers vs x-men”….
Instead, they went years featuring C-grade characters no one carried about while constantly teasing the possibility of Fox X-men characters showing up through the multiverse concept. Until interest in the series overall drained… now it’s probably too late.
They have to pander to the complaining people first. MCU fans are ruining the comic books they will never read and changing the movies and shows they will never watch more then once. If people stopped complaining and just watch the thing it would eventually get to their liking. If people stop complaining they would stop changing my books to reflect the mcu. I get the irony. Uncle Aaron Maximoff back in the MCU!!.I hear you. Some truth there. But they didn’t have to do EVERYTHING all at once. They could have started laying the foundation to build. It wasn’t like they had trouble pushing out content. It’s just instead of focusing on the next big thing, that would have generated a lot of buzz, they went with more modern characters instead of those with strong track records of popularity. (See Disney+)
It’s true that stuff like Guardians of the Galaxy was a gamble on obscure material that paid off. But that was always a backup plan to the main push. It just happened to work.
I’d definitely be on the same page with you… if I had any confidence in their creative teams to actually do it right.
It’s all water under the bridge now. In terms of my dream casting for X-men… what I’d like to see is a classic look cast that feels like the 70s X-men brought straight to the screen. No “handsome leading man” Wolverine, but a squat scrappy fighter. Goddess Storm. Their classic costumes (like in Deadpool). No black suits.
All of this. I think people forget (or didn't know) that the deal wasn't finalized soon enough to start using the Fox characters and that roster of Avengers was full of C-listers as far as the GA is concerned. Now they're just as big as the X-Men.They didn't have full control of x-Men and other Fox properties until the deal was finalized in 2019 and then covid took place which threw a lot of things out of whack. You also have to consider that these kind of things take time and years to plan when they already had other stuff in motion. I kind of dig Tye as Scott but i dont think hes all that good of an actor. The only "famous" actor that needs to play Cyclops is Brandon Sklenar. I watchd his scenes from Yellowstone on YouTube and dude has the look, physic and acting chops to pull Scott off. Everyone else they need to cast unknown actors for instead of chasing Twitter fan casts. Dear God, Glen Powell as Scott would be such a boring casting. Bland just like Pedro as Reed Richards.
