If it's a side measure with soft tape, it can add up to 2" in length when compared to the proper measure (on top with hard ruler). I know this because I'm 8" proper and made a video hitting 10" from the side just for fun.
As for hard ruler from the side.. Not sure, it might add 0.5 to 1" maybe? Didn't test it myself.

Depth is definitely between 8-8.5
