Considering the age difference between the real life historical figures, it should be an English actor in his early fifties or late forties. Someone like Paul Bettany maybe.

Well, given King James I of England wrote in 1963 to Nicholas Galitzine's character in a letter "God bless you, my sweet child and wife, and grant that ye may ever be a comfort to your dear father and husband", it's most likely the King was the top and Nicholas Galitzine's character was the bottom. In these old times way before queer people were openly queer and way before gay marriage was a thing, gay relationships were very heteronormative. I really want to see who they cast as Nicholas' "daddy" and I hope we get sex scenes where the King makes him his "wife" in bed, haha.

They probably filmed some scenes but they don’t know what will end up on the cutting room floor.
I'm 100% sure it's going to be the most tame, PG friendly sex scenes ever. They'll simply insinuate certain acts like blowjobs etc and end up not showing anything incriminating.
They'll end up going to bed together and then most probably cut to the next morning and their entire body is wrapped in the bed sheet lmao
It's going to be like a family friendly rom com I guess. No where close to how explicit the book is

I picked up the book after Nick was cast and oh boy... Even if there's nothing explicit we can definitely expect at least a few shirtless scenes (like skinny dipping in a lake).
I actually find his answer kinda interesting. The question seems to be about romantic scenes, which isn’t just sex. But Nick seems to have answered it more about intimate scenes. PH was very tame, fade to black. If he describes RWRB as life changing, it actually makes me a bit more hopeful they’ve at least explored making the sex scenes as intimate as they can make them given it’s audience. It’s not going to be explicit, the book isn’t so the film won’t be. But I hope they still protract the intimacy that grows between Alex & Henry..
I agree, I think we’ll get a fair few shirtless scenes of them in bed afterwards or the next morning. Also kissing, this for once is non tragic love gay story. They are in love (or in denial about it) & enthusiastic for each other for the majority of the book. They kiss a lot. I really hope they keep that in the story.
