Nudity in the locker room

The bigger question that must be asked, once again, is why does the fact that the majority of men are not willing to walk around naked in front of you, bother both you and so many others here?
I could turn it around and ask why there are so many threads everywhere across the internet (including articles in online magazines and videos) whining about naked guys in the locker room? There are even clickbaity "7 steps for guys in the locker room" that go to great pains to chastise you to keep as many layers of clothes on as possible.

What's their problem?

Yep, its a two way street. Personally, I'm not going out of my way to show off, but I'm not going out of my way to hide either. Its a locker room, I'm going to do what I need to do to change/cleanup in the most efficient manner as possible.

To me at least, if you come into the locker room, do what you need to do to cleanup, and go... that seems like normal activity to me and will draw very little, if any of my attention. If you're going out of your way to either hide or show off, then not only will you draw my attention, I'm going to wonder what's your problem.

There’s a few threads about this. The general consensus seems to be (cultural differences aside) that the older the clientele, the higher the probability that locker room nudity is not an issue.
This is something that's often said - it's even an observation I've made myself before - but thinking about it I'm not 100% sure it's true. Younger guys dodging the showers might simply be more obvious because there are a lot more of them using the gym in the first place? Conversely, older men may just be a bit more likely to use communals because those of us who still bother to work out have been used to it for a very long time, and we're disproportionately likely to have played team sports when younger?

Thinking about it, we've got quite a large drive home sweaty brigade at our gym, but a fair number of guys also use the showers and there seems to be no particular age bias.

This topic reminds me a long time ago when I used to go to Puerto Vallarta Mexico with my family, in the men's showers I was fascinated looking at those Mexicans papis. Their light brown body but darker cocks made impossible to avoid looking at those brown cocks really on display omgg :emoji_astonished:

I always get naked in the locker room and don't use me town to cover, i like being naked. unfortunately it seems people are becoming a lot more sensitive to nudity and a lot of gyms are discouraging nudity as well...

I am old enough that we took a shower after gym class. Open showers were also the norm. We all had anxiety the first few times taking a shower after class. It soon became no big deal. Later someone at a school complained about the shower policy and lack of privacy in taking a shower. The NCLU got involved. The school had to fold on the shower policy as the legal fees to go to court to defend themselves were very high. This set precedent for other schools. My boys have never taken a shower after gym. Everybody hoses themselves down with body spray and more deodorant.

Totally crazy now. This is why you have the towel dancers and guys wearing shorts while taking a shower.

i’ll be naked while taking a shower but try to be semi modest in between my locker and shower. I’ll keep my speedo on while walking to the showers and wrap a towel around myself on the way back. In the communal shower i have no reason to cover up unless i think i’ll pop a boner.

i’d say the main thing is if you don’t make it sexual then no one gives even half a duck what you do

It's an epidemic of threads on the same topic...someone manufacture a vaccine to stop the spread of posters virtue signaling their wieners while denigrating others who aren't willing to give them a thrill by displaying their own wieners! Hopefully, such a vaccine will work on other, similarly pathetic, maladies.

I'm almost 70 and the gyms I go to have common locker and changing areas. Most of the men using the gym are older and they don't seem to have a problem being nude while changing or going to the showers. Many are out-of-shape, saggy, and move slowly but you have to admire them for at least giving it a go in terms of continuing to try to move or improve themselves.

I'm certainly very average, shave my cock, balls, and ass, and trim an area about 1" above my cock. Most of the other guys are all natural. I'm sure some of them, if they look, wonder "WTF". I don't care because I'm still getting head from my wife. These others? Who knows.

I totally agree, I am 60 plus and it doesn't worry me being naked in the locker room. The average membership age there has probably dropped since covid as the gym has had to offer student deals to keep going. Younger guys tend to cover up more or use the two private areas to change.
I'm shaved all over, smooth below the eyebrows, so probably get noticed for that. I also occasionally wear a cock ring or two which gets some inquisitive looks, but I'm fine with that.

I’m 35 and I go to two gyms regularly. They are about 45 min drive away from each other. One is in a beach town, the other is over the mountains and in a big city. Both are rock climbing gyms.

The one in the city is a towel dance locker room. It’s rare to see anyone walk to and from the shower naked and change naked at their locker room, you see that occasionally, myself being one of them. You mostly see guys bring their clothes to the shower and do their changing and dressing there, and there’s no good place to even keep your clothes dry. Towels worn in the sauna too.

At the rock gym by the beach it’s 100% the opposite. The door leading into the sauna is in the shower and there are no curtains. It’s pretty much customary in this locker room that once you are in the locker room to change or shower, you are naked no matter who you are. And you stay naked even in the sauna. I don’t know what they have been feeding kids these days, but many of the young guys put me to shame. It doesn’t help that I tend to shrink in the sauna when everyone else tends to hang lower.

Just interesting that it’s a different mentality from two gyms that are not that far from each other.

It's just normal, unremarkable, market behavior. The men in this case choose the locker room norm most comfortable for them, reinforcing that norm until two very different norms are established. I think it's wonderful individuals get to choose and, hopefully, members of either group feels compelled to force its norm on the other.

Go to the sauna in my underwear (boxer briefs) and then head to the showers. Always shower at the gym. It is gross to get so sweaty and then put on sweaty clothes.
Aw, man. Why do you go into the sauna in your boxer briefs? What's the point?

I generally cover up to walk to the shower, but it's because I can be a little insecure about my size (when I'm in mixed company and not specifically in an SPH situation). Right after a workout, the shrinkage is NO JOKE, so I feel much better after the hot water loosens things up a bit =)

I undress naked at my locker, walk to and from shower in a towel, remove my towel and get dressed naked at my locker. Nudity isn't a big deal to me but I'm definitely in the minority at my gym. I've only ever seen 2 guys, one probably 40's one probably late 20s/early 30s, walking to showers naked holding their towel. Most guys don't even shower and if they do they'll change in the shower stall or under a towel. Doesn't bother me, that's their choice. Just something I've noticed.

I have a new understanding for why older men are so comfortable with being nude in the locker room. I was told by an older gent that guys from his generation would think you were "effeminate" if you were shy about being naked. The more I thought about this, the more I realized that this was a not so offensive way of saying someone was a homosexual and back in his day the worst thing a man could be called was gay as it was something that no man wanted to be labeled. Of course we live in a world that is much more accepting of other sexualities that are not heterosexual but still a lot of men who are younger tend to be less likely to be nude in the locker room and sometimes bypass taking a shower after a workout out of fear that someone might take a peek at them. I'm a young man but I'm not shy about nudity as I always shower after my workouts. The amount of time that I would be nude in the locker room is very brief however and I do find that older men spend a much longer time parading around the locker room in the buff as if they would if they were at home.
