OnlyFans videos now defaulting to DRM/streaming

this is exactly why I don't want to roll the dice and pay some shady company claiming that they work only to see the same black screen that lasts for 4 minutes.

Well clearly there-s no way out for downloading DRM enabled media... so, nothing has really changed since 6-7 months ago and it all depends on the performers. After a long break, I took a shot a couple wks ago subscribing to new OFs (risk/price vs benefit) and 3 out of 4 were not DRM enabled... I didn't even ask before sub'ing. Performers know what to do. I think the pattern is that when they are "well established" porn actors they couldn't care less. The most amateurs are the most sensitive with DRM on.

Thanks. Have you been subscribed to him? Does he do alot of closeup shots? Or does he usually have a camera man? I don't like scenes where the camera is in the same position most or all of the video. Any suck and swallow or handjob scenes from him?

I have been subbed a few times and have never been disappointed with him. I have been less than excited with his choice of scene partners. I find him hot as hell, but his partners do not always measure up to his level in my opinion. He is vers, does solos, oral give and receive, closeups. It's worth at least a month or two two .

Ignore meaning I sent them a message via OFs when I was subscribed asking if they will continue to use DRM and the issues it causes and let them know you can turn it off if they choose to. I see that they have read the message, but did not respond.

True and I do the same for some..those that I don't care to resubscribe...and there are times where some creators are surprised it is on and had no clue and do thank me..it definitely is not alot LOL...but it is awesome when it is a creator you really like. JakeBass was one of them that I love!! His OFs is soo hot!! He turned it off.

Yeah, I don't think he's a scammer. Probably just uses automated posts for his other NSFW stuff. But still why offer customs if you have no plans on doing them? His free page also has the "tip to message" feature which also left a bad taste in my mouth along with him adding DRM in September.

It frustrates me to no end that 99% of OF models refuse to listen to their customers and accuse you of stealing their content whenever you complain about DRM. DRM is illogical and undoubtedly taking money out of their pockets, but they can't (or won't) think hard enough about it to realize that.

A simple hypothetical can illustrate this. Say you have 200 subscribers a month at $10/month without DRM, but your content gets leaked. You are making $2,000/month from subscription fees (plus whatever revenue you bring in from customs, PPVs, selling underwear, etc.).

But you are pissed off that people are getting your leaked content for free, so you turn on DRM. I think its pretty clear by now that turning on DRM will lose you subscribers. Lets be conservative and say you only lose 20 subscribers (in reality, it is very likely much more than that). Now you are only making $1,800/month plus you lose any extra revenue those 20 subscribers would spend.

But maybe the people that were previously stealing your content will now subscribe because they can't get it for free anymore? LMAO ... not a chance. You are throwing away money by turning on DRM. You are paying at least $200/month (in reality, much more) for the peace of mind that comes from knowing that people aren't sharing your content for free. Plus, no one other than your subscribers even knows you exist because you are too fucking lazy to market anything and your content can't be easily shared.

No to mention the fact that the DRM doesn't even really stop those that are dead set on saving your content anyways. So you are only punishing your loyal fans by giving them a much, much worse experience on your site and preventing anyone that simply wants to download your content for their own private consumption (and not share it).

Sorry for the rant ... this just really pisses me off and has completely ruined OF IMO. I thought models would figure this out sooner rather than later, but they are too stubborn and full of themselves to even consider stuff like this.

tl;dr: DRM sucks!

Not only have studio porn sites abandoned their foolish DRM endeavor from like a decade ago, most of them explicitly permit and facilitate downloading their content. I've seen some even encourage it (e.g. "add it to your library").

OF caters to their "creators" demands at the expense of consumers, and the "creators" are too stupid to realize how badly they are shooting themselves in the foot by demanding this stuff.

I was spending about $200/month on onlyfans (which sounds like a lot! Haha!) and now because of DRM, I’ve dropped to five subscriptions and I’ll probably let them expire and shut down my OF altogether.

So DRM? Well, the effect is that people who happily pay for porn and just going to wait for the leaks (like we did five years ago.)

Have any of you thought of checking if those OF-DRM performers are also on JustFor.Fans? There’s no DRM enabled on that platform if you select the HTML5 video player in account settings under “General Settings” and “Video Settings.” (You may then need to relaunch your browser or computer.) Much emphasis is put on OnlyFans, but JustFor.Fans is fully sex-worker staffed and better in certain areas (no restrictions on public nudity and watersports, etc.).

Not sure about Jake, but that often happens when guys re-post older videos that were originally posted before DRM got implemented. (Another scammy trick that some creators use to keep their numbers up without doing any work).

I'm not the biggest fan of JFF, but it is much better than OF. The problem is that most creators ignore it because the user base just isn't there to make it worthwhile for them. I wish people would migrate to a better platform that doesn't facilitate scamming, but OF has by far the most market share, making it really hard for any other platform to gain any traction.
