Open showers in London - list of venues to show off

London Southbank Uni Gym. Great basement freeweights room for serious trainers. Open plan showers, no shying away. Guys don't even wrap towels around their waists

Brixton Leisure Centre
Finsbury Leisure Centre

Nuffield health centre in Covent Garden. There are some precious straight muscle men who are shy of gay guys, but there is a lot of action. Facing showers and more than the occasional glance and mutual work.

Trip reports below

Marshall St has great open showers on both wet and dry sides - most guys strip but some do the towel dance - spa is not good, only a sauna and a steam, and shorts on at all times even men only sessions, the reception is open to the spa to this is enforced.
Porchester -spectacular spa, expensive but good value if you can go for a long session, nearly everyone goes naked, though many wear towels when walking around
Seymour, Turkish bath is just a basic sauna and steam, and is quite separate from the pool, nudity is normal (on men only days) but when I was there it wasn't busy - would rather have paid the extra and gone to Porchester

yes, every sunday now from 12 to 2 at the University of London Union everyone (nearly all male, though it is open to women) takes all their clothes off and gets into the pool naked - reduced price entry for students

At Crystal Palace pool last night and while it was great to swim in a 50m pool (there are only 3 in London until the Olympic pool opens next week) the changing rooms were disappointing, very large but all showers are in cubicles with solid doors and there are a lot of changing cubicles as well - no one used these but several guys were towel dancing..... though some were naked. Hopefully the Olympic pool will have communal showers and a more relaxed attitude towards nudity

Swimming naked is great - mainly guys here - if you're shy come after it has started so you don't have to stand around in the changing room with lots of naked men - it's only a short walk to the pool - only £1 for students

2. Docklands Steam, Canning Town East London
On men's days nudity is allowed. And is usual - you'll fit in much better if you are bare

Food available.

NO messing about here boys
- (so be careful with the massage, get and erection and the only direction will be the door) if you do (or are even suspected of doing so !) you will be unceremoniously kicked out and banned from coming back.

No-nonsense customers and management so don't expect fluffy towels - Bring your own - plus soap, shampoo & footwear.

Its a rough area, check out on map before traveling so you know exactly where you are going. Only a short walk from the tube/DLR

3. Porchester Hall Queensway - Gym, pool and Turkish bath.
Wet and dry sides open showers. Large Turkish bath has men only days (Monday, Wednesday, Saturday) where nudity is OK (most guys wear towels to walk around but are naked in the sauna/steam/hotrooms though there are a few in swimwear) . Steam rooms, hot rooms, sauna and cold plunge. Cubicle warm showers. Open cold shower. Expensive for non-members. Member ship is good value - Now that Ironmonger Row and York Hall require swimwear even on men only days this is the only remaining large, old spa where nudity is allowed.

4. Queen Mothers Sports Centre, Victoria - open shower rooms on both wet and dry sides. Agreed

5. Seymour Place Westminster has wet side and dry sides have open showers and a Turkish bath (in reality a small windowless basement area with a sauna and steam, not really worth the cost) even if you can be nude) where nudity OK.

9. Iron Monger Row baths near City road to the north of the city - has wet side open showers and a spa area with 2 saunas, 2 steam rooms, cold plunge and 3 hot rooms. On men's days women staff patrol so costumes must be worn. Expensive for non-members.

11. Marshal St Baths in Soho has wet & dry side open showers. Yes In the spa area on mens days women staff patrol so costumes must be worn.

No open showers here :-

Crystal Palace Pool - all showers in cubicles but open changing room

Olympic Pool Stratford - "changing villages" (ie huge rooms with lockers and changing cubicles) for both main and training pool, for women there are changing areas in both, for men in the training pool area only - this has changing cubicles only - most showers are in the open area but there are some individual ones in separate areas, small cubicles with the shower activated by a sensor, no ability to change temperature - as "closeted" as it is possible to get

Out door:

Hampstead Mens Pond - small nude sunbathing area - with the recent sunny weather, it has been a good place to strip off, can shower naked.

Tooting Bec Lido - can shower naked

Uxbridge Lido - only showers are outdoors and open (and cold) !
