Orville Peck (masked Country Singer)

That has to be the first country music video to depict a gay hookup, right?
Huh? Trixie, 'mama don't make me put on a dress again' is full of gay dudes hanging off of each other.

Every Steve Grand video has gay couples in them.

Chris Housman, I can't remember if he's released a fu video or just a teaser, but pretty much all of his songs are gay themed

Do you know what a hookup is?

I didn't love his debut album, but his 'Show Pony' EP and now 'Bronco Chapter 1' EP (haven't listened to Chapter 2 yet) have been much better for me. He has a great voice and a pretty nice body too I have to say.

Everyone knows his real name/identity is Daniel Pitout though so even though the mask makes for some cool branding it's kind of outdated for its identity-shielding purpose.

It is about branding like you mentioned. I think about Trixie Mattel's makeup and Andy Warhol's sliver wigs. Marilyn Manson's real name is Brian Warner but the name is part of the concept and branding of the man and the band.
Thanks for that rundown of branding lol :p. Thing is, I think if you have a mask even as part of your branding hiding was a part of it at least at some point. Just like Sia who'd performed at one point with her face, it's too late for Orville, that's all I meant.

He said it in interviews several times at this point - Orville is a vehicle, a construct. It's a stage persona. And I think it works brilliantly for him.

So guys, do you think 'Bronco' will blow him up a bit more? He has a distinct brand (as we've already discussed :p), his music and video production is very high quality and he's done some high-profile collabs already (with Shania Twain and Norman Reedus to appear in his latest video). I feel like all the elements are there. I'd fully expect his audience to mostly stay country fans, but I mean, will he build an at least decent crossover?

I discovered him by chance when someone thought he sucked, mentioned he was a gay country singer and that intrigued me. I just as easily could never have found out he existed.

I really wholeheartedly hope so. He deserves all the best. Such a talented and sweet dude.
