Wild Borneo: Secrets of an Ancient Rainforest

Join us as we go deep into the lush, ancient rainforests of tropical Borneo. We’ll meet playful orangutans and the world’s smallest bears; visit the famed Lang Caves and watch millions of bats emerge in search of dinner; cruise along emerald rivers through lost-in-time landscapes; and visit sparkling waterfalls, hidden coves, and crystal-clear swimming holes.

My $19.99 Tinsel Tree. 2 minutes to set up, 1 minute to put away. Gone are the days when I set a Santa up on the roof and tied Christmas lights all around the posts on the verandah, stockings on the mantle, footprints from the fireplace in the soot.

I miss those days :) thumbnail_Resized_20241112_120932.jpg

I leave a little Time Capsule on many of the jobs I do. This was a home reno on a small home. I placed an Australian newspaper, a few coins, and a couple of Matchbox cars (not shown) in a Tupperware container and placed it under the new bath. The front page when an Aussie from Tasmania (state of Australia), became Queen of Denmark as she was married to Prince Whatever his name is :) .

The original home was about 40 years old. So I suppose in another 40 someone may find it and have a laugh, or cry on what they missed out on. ( I'll be long gone). Placed my kids names, and Grandkids so if it is found they may have a smile too if they are contacted. All in fun, a little trivia. It's H4 in ground treated pine timber I used, and mudded under the bath, even though it was strengthened...always more than what is nesseccary, for those in the game :)

Everyone can leave a little time capsule where you are to be discovered at some time. Just do it.

Not just water. Salt Water. It's conductivity is much higher than fresh water, of which the salty variety we are constructed. Yet we live and survive on fresh water, salt water consumption will kill us.. Our rains that fall on land are mostly formed over salt oceans, yet the process removes the salt for us to survive on land. Even though we were supposed to evolve from salty slime. We die if our bodies do not contain the right amount of sodium.

Pretty amazing when you put it all together.

Me again! And same old spot again! (Of course.)

Two from this week. I took the first on Tuesday; the second yesterday. Both at precisely the same time of the day. Going by the height of the sun in these two, this would be about half past nine in the evening in June. But, this being the exact opposite time of the year, these are from just before three in the evening!

As always, sorry if they bore.

The ancient (truly ancient) castle and cathedral have stood there - and stood proud - for century after century after century. So they've witnessed one or two Christmases.

I took this one on Thursday, as those two ancient constructions welcomed yet another Christmas.
(And, no, it's not a scratch or bit of muck on the lens when you look at the sky in the top left. Which was my initial worry. But I soon realised it's of 100% natural origin.)
