Pro tennis players

There’s a handful of out former players. Not the same as being an out active player on the tour. And I’m sure most of these players know other male players who are “gay”, “queer”, are in/have been in a queer partnership, are homo-leaning, are somewhere in the gender, sexual, affection, romantic, emotion, commitment spectrum. And I’m sure most players don’t have an overt “problem” with it. But it’s still something that many players will judge them for or snub them for. And a lot of folks don’t want that type of attention or potential danger. While being outwardly queer on tour doesn’t mean there still aren’t insecurities, questioning, resentments and discomfort with being out publicly. Anyone with sense knows there’s been plenty of queer male players on tour. They’re just not overtly out.
I can't think of any former male players that are out. Names? Which current players are out but not "overtly?" Unless you're a top tier player you have to rely on many foreign tournaments and sponsors to keep going. Unfortunately being a male out player is going to limit or erase any of those opportunities.

Jan Michael Gambill is probably the biggest one, though he isn't out publicly, he just doesn't make a statement on it and lives his life (on Elton John's yacht etc...) but he isn't hiding it, Brian Vahaly is the other former pro who is now publicly out and has commented on it, and he did not agree with Taylor Fritz's read of the situation on the ATP Tour for LGBT players from what he sees/hears on the board of the USTA (and mentioned when he came out publicly noone from the ATP Tour or players he played with reached out to him or made any supportive comments)

Jan Michael actually publicly denied his queerness when he was seen hanging out with Elton. It was a bit rant-y, especially for someone who clearly very queer. He’s definitely publicly out now. He has acknowledged his queerness in a few social media posts. He’s overtly boo-ed up with a guy on social media. And his wiki (which he has definitely seen a few times/has control over) refers to him as “gay”.
