My prom was 1974. I wore boxer shorts but most of my classmates wore briefs back then.

My mom just bought me the boxer shorts and replaced my briefs. She told me there was new underwear in my drawer that she thought Iād find more comfortable. When I looked, my old briefs and t-shirts were gone and there were Hanes snap-front boxers in solid pastel colors: blue, yellow and green on one side and Hanes white athletic undershirts on the other. So thatās what I started wearing. (My briefs were always white.). These were the styles my dad wore so I guess she thought I was ready for them too.

Pretty much the same story here, too, and I loved those snap front boxer shorts! I wish they were more readily available today.
To me, this is inexcusable. You shouldn't have your briefs replaced by boxers without your consent... and just who exactly decided that briefs were for kids and boxers for adults?? What's "adult" about boxers? In my hs, if you wore boxers you were laughed out of the locker room for wearing grandpa underwear. How did this belief develop??
Ur probably a lot younger, the pastels were ( @Tony56 correct me if im wrong) more a 70's thing! You were most likely born after 1994 I graduated hs in 2006 and a good majority were in boxers it was a pretty even 50/50 split boxers and boxer briefs with like 2 or 3 dudes in briefs. And most were solid or some comic/cartoon/smart ass saying now if you wore the open fly plaid or white ones this was old man grandpa underwear! If you wore the cartoon boxers or mainly grey or black boxer briefs you were with the crowd and ignored!

No, this guy is definitely super old if he's saying guys got made fun of for wearing boxers.
I was in high school in the mid 2010s and you'd be tormented if you wore anything other than boxers. I literally only ever knew one guy that wore briefs and he got bullied so hard that he started wearing boxers.

I don't see why puberty would lead to no support of balls at all. Why is that an improvement?? My neighbor, my age, also started wearing boxer shorts at the same time. He had 2 older brothers who went to a prep school where apparently boxer shorts were the thing to wear.
Boxer briefs did not exist back then. I think they first appeared in the 90s.
I do think Prep school are partly responsible for the boxer shorts popularity, esp in the late 80's and through the nineties. I didn't see preppy guys till college and I was astounded to see a few (but only a few) guys in the locker room wearing baggy boxers. With low hangers myself, and as a Bulge hound, I couldn't conceive why ANY guy would wear what essentially isn't underwear but rather only a kind of later of material between cock and pants.
