Pygeum overload! (No pun intended!!)

I'm not sure if this has been addressed already, but I've been taking 200mg of Pygeum every day for a month and now I don't seem to produce any precum at all. Anyone else have this result??
Pygeum has a tendency to thicken secretions so you're most definitely producing but it is too thick to ooze out like it normally does. I always couple celery seeds and lecithin with it as well as increasing water intake.

I haven't made a post about my journey for a while. I have been using pygeum for about 3 years (inconsistently). I have had some good results and some less great results. Here is what I can tell from my experience.
If you use a high dose pygeum, you will get a better/quicker effect. That said, the common 2:1 ratio is used for the smaller dose so if you had to try to increase the dose, I would suggest taking it for a day or two and stopping for a day (either doing a 1:1 or 2:1 for one to two days only). In my experience, I have taken a large dose and found it working either the same day, or the next day (and by large, I mean a 5,000 cap). But quickly after that, the effects seem to wear off, almost as if I no longer produce precum... From what I can gather, this is due to the mucus being two thick. After a few days of a moderately increased dose to the 200mg, I noticed after a few days, my snot was very thick. This is a good indicator as your nasal mucus and cowpers gland mucus are both mucus so one being thick is a good indicator of the other. I have not tested taking a high dose with a day in between like this, but this is just from my experience. Also, taking pygeum for too long will cause you to build a tolerance for it. Not a permanent one, but one none the less so when it comes to pygeum, the saying "less is more" couldn't be more on the nose.
Now what I noticed worked for me, taking 200mg twice daily has been working (morning and night). I have been taking it 6days on and 2days off, slightly different to a true 2:1 ratio. I have been doing this for 2 cycles as of writing this and I have been able to produce a drop of precum. Not leaking but getting there. I expect either in the next cycle or the one after will the effects be more noticeable.
What didn't work (and even seemed detrimental), taking it for too long (more than two weeks). Even at the dose previously mentioned, taking it for 4weeks had little effect. This is why cycling is VERY important. I used to think that it wouldn't matter that much but it does. Taking too high of a dose for too long also had the effect of showing progress and then going dry. This means more than a few days to a week. If you use the high dose, I might even recommend taking a 1:2 ratio where you take it one day on and two days off. The strangest experience I had with the higher dose was that after I got to the bone dry stage, it seemed to not hold up the results later. I could be semi-leaky one day, and after getting off of it, barely produce any at all. I mentioned in previous posts that it is wise to imagine pygeum like caffeine. A cup or two daily is fine, but taking 2000-5000mg a day is not going to be good for you in the long run. Taking a large dose of pygeum had a more immediate effect, but it didn't stick and taking it for too long had the adverse effect. Maybe taking it once in a while, like once a week would be fine, but I would probably suggest avoiding these types. Like with penile stretching, taking pygeum is a marathon, or maybe a dash when compared to stretching since pygeum has a more noticeable effect within a months time.
All/most of these results were found with the fact that I don't drink that much water. I imagine that increasing the amount of water will help increase production a bit, but for now it doesn't seem necessary.
I recently have been put on an antidepressant called Wellbutrin, though I take the generic called Bupropion. I would suggest looking into this if you suffer from depression. You probably have a mild case and don't even know it so talking with your doctor is a good idea. They will ask you a series of questions which will qualify you or not for the prescription. The reason I mention this is the drug has little adverse effects to libido and erection quality. Actually it can be said that it does the opposite. Many claim that they went from low to moderate libido to not even being able to look at a cucumber without getting an erection (their words, not mine).

Anyway, I will update in a few cycles to share my results. Fingers crossed.

Thanks for posting this LeakingWolf. Very informative and I experienced similar, although I haven’t tried as many scenarios as you have. I will definitely try your 6 days on and 2 days off cycle next. Perhaps my 3 weeks on 2 weeks off cycle is too long.

I, and some others, noticed diminished effects when taking for more than 2 weeks. I personally didn't like the idea of taking a week break every time I used pygeum so I thought of a shorter time.

I'm returning to this thread because I love making loads of precum! Haha. I asked AI what it would suggest to men who want to increase their levels of production with precum. Here is what I got back; honestly, it aligns with what we've been discussing already.

Protocol for a Slight Increase

Supplements

  1. Pygeum
    • Dose: 100–200 mg daily (standardized to 14% triterpenes).
    • Timing: Take with food to avoid stomach upset.
  2. Zinc
    • Dose: 15–30 mg daily (avoid exceeding 40 mg/day).
    • Note: Supports prostate health and fluid production. Pair with copper (2 mg) if taking long-term.
  3. Lecithin
    • Dose: 1,200–2,400 mg daily.
    • Form: Sunflower or soy-based phosphatidylcholine.
  4. L-Arginine
    • Dose: 3–5 g daily.
    • Timing: On an empty stomach for better absorption.

Stacking Tips

  • Take pygeum + lecithin + zinc in the morning.
  • Use L-arginine/citrulline 30–60 minutes before sexual activity.
  • Cycle supplements (e.g., 5 days on, 2 days off) to reduce tolerance.

Lifestyle & Habits

  • Hydration: Drink 3–4 L of water daily (precum is mostly water).
  • Diet: Include zinc-rich foods (oysters, pumpkin seeds), omega-3s (walnuts, fish), and antioxidants (berries, leafy greens).
  • Exercise: Pelvic floor (Kegel) exercises to strengthen Cowper’s glands.
  • Avoid: Smoking, excessive alcohol, and antihistamines (can dry secretions).

Additional Considerations

  • Sexual Frequency: Regular arousal (daily or every other day) may train glandular output.
  • Medical Check: Rule out prostate issues or hormonal imbalances.
  • Patience: Results may take 4–8 weeks; track changes.

Risks & Cautions

  • Pygeum: Rarely causes digestive issues.
  • Zinc Overdose: Nausea, immune suppression (stick to ≤40 mg/day).
  • Saw Palmetto: May lower DHT (monitor libido changes).

This is super helpful to have it all laid out like this!

Its been fun watching this thread evolve over the past... say 10 years, and how we've collectively been working on learning about precum

I never paid much attention to cycling and ratios and found what works for me:
My supplement cycling is - whatever is available and maybe discounted at the pharmacy that month
My days cycling is my forgetfulness; I don't keep vitamins next to my bed to take every day but rather in a cabinet so occasionally I will notice, sometimes when super horny take by design.
and most importantly, this has been going on for years. And I mean years.

Proof is in the... underwear so just keep going everyone 💪

What's the dosage for L-citrulline?

Just a small update, I went at it today and dripped two drops of precum with a little leaking in between. Today is only day 3 of the 6 day cycle and is also the 4th cycle as well, meaning today is my 21st day on pygeum. Things are looking good. Ill be honest, 5:2 mentioned above sounds better. I noticed last run, the benefits seemed to lessen after day 3 so perhaps 5 instead of 6 days is the better choice...
