That's a cool article, I will have to check those out. I happened to once randomly be thinking, I assumed Black American cinema extended back to the Silent era but I just wasn't aware of any, or how to even find any, so those two on the list look interesting.

I keep meaning to watch the Cabinet of Dr Caligari as well, ever since a friend recommended it. I've seen a cut of Metropolis but not the full restored version. I didn't know Hitchcock was making movies back then, I like some his 50s movies. Interesting that he uses color as he can by making scenes different colors because his color films use color so well too.
