Zane said it started with Rhett/Bret .. I don’t know the exact details.. then I heard Austin got someone pregnant and the website just turned into Zane’s responsibility and it was too much. I’m sure there’s other details.

It was over feelings that Zane had for Austin. And Austin rejected Zane. I read Zane’s book and that episode had me almost in tears. It was awful for Zane.

Wow that’s so crazy. You can tell Zane had feelings for Austin too in the videos.
I agree he had feelings for Austin he never admitted. In the book he is clear and repetitive about being straight. He goes into detail about his relationships with and feelings for several women. His tendency towards emotionally messy over thinking of everything makes it a tedious read at times.

The worse part is that I think Zane mentioned in his book that I think he was close to committing suicide, after being rejected by Austin. Plus when Zane started getting feeling, I think he freaked out because they were both straight. I think too there was something over money too.

I remember the camera guy said Rhett's dad would often wait outside in the car while Rhett Jr did his scenes (while his son was still in high school). It seemed to me that him and his had a more best friend relationship rather than a (more healthy and appropriate) father son dynamic.

Anyway I never liked Rhett's scene with his "dad". It's just awkward and even if Rhett's dad were hotter I probably still wouldn't have liked the video. SCM tended to have a lot of good videos especially the ones focusing on Rhett's friends, but a lot of cringe, skippable content too. I sometimes wondered if the folks behind the scenes actually knew what their audience wanted to see.

Before people get ideas. The struggles Zane admits to are over the collapse of their friendship. Austin comes across as a flighty mess as both a friend and co-owner which bothered Zane a lot. When Austin got a girl pregnant it really fell apart. As much as we can all read between the lines, Zane repeatedly denies he and Austin were anything more than friends. In the end that may be for the best as Austin would be a nightmare BF for someone like Zane.
