Ryan Gosling

I finally made it to Barbie and it was perfect. RyGos was so great in the role and I honestly cannot think of a better Ken. I am a little miffed at how Margot has been overlooked with all the Oscar buzz…she literally was a Barbie; it was masterful. It’s also not lost on me that the whole theme of the movie is how women have to be all encompassing humans, while men can do one thing well and be lauded. What a world…okay back to ogling Ryan.
Marhot is not overlooked, in fact, every critics, and every press release and cast member mentioned how big her role was as a producer, they are making her way up to 2 noms.

I suppose, to clarify my comment, is that Ryan is the one who seems to be the primary acting focus of critics; I did not mean to imply there was zero recognition of Margot. But a simple Google search of “Barbie Oscars” shows why I made the comment I made.

‘Barbie’ movie first reactions are in: ‘Give Ryan Gosling an Oscar’

The joy of Ken: Can Barbie's Ryan Gosling really win an Oscar?

I could not find an article that leads with Margot as the focus….in a movie with her character’s name as the title.

There's no way critics dare overlook her. I actually find it refreshing that a guy is coming out of a woman centric from with credit, it is usually the other round.

I mean since first test screenings people mostly talked about his performance, but that's because he came as underdog here. And I think he has meatier role.

But don't think she'll be snubbed, in fact I see him being snubbed, she'll have producer narrative running her campaign along with BA race, Margot has been chasing Oscar for some time, and her peers will award her for it. Knowing him and following his career, I don't really see him doing campaign later this year, along with Oppenheimer and that new Leo movie movie, I think he'll get lost in the mix. I'd love to be proved wrong. Third nom is long overdue, and I think he must be awarded because no one else could've pulled Ken like him, and it's far from Oscar baiting performance.

Gosling and Robert Downey Jr. are the two Supporting Actor frontrunners at the moment. People who saw Killers of the Flower Moon have mentioned Robert De Niro as well, so I think those three are safely in.

Festival season has yet to start, so someone will emerge from Venice festival too. Apple will have huge campaign with all star cast and respected director for what could be his last movie, Oppenheimer is Oscar baiting movie, so Ryan is not safe at all. He won't be a priority for WB, Margot and Greta will be.

WB are absolutely going to campaign for Barbie in all categories. I have no idea why you think they won't prioritize Gosling, who's arguably the buzziest performance of their billion dollar picture. They'd be foolish not to.

I don't think Ryan campaigns much unless he's obligated to or if it helps his films which are usually very small so they needed all the attention. I remember him missing Oscar luncheon the first time he was nominated. With Barbie making a billion, and campaign may not even be possible given the strike, it depends on how the studio will campaign.

He has the showier part and he manages the comedy and emotional bit pretty perfectly, as it's more of a high wire act, and maybe that is why he's being singled out in some reviews. Not all though as most also mentioned Margot Robbie. I think they will both be nominated probably. Ryan is respected in the industry and being good in a film in a role that is outside of his comfort zone may be enough for him to get the nomination.

It would be good to have great comedic performances to be nominated too. It's always the Oscar baity roles that gets recognized.

A movie about feminism and the female lead is ignored, couldn't be more meta if they tried
