You forget that in past times the incidence of circumcisions was higher even than in the USA, and the tradition still lingers in many families.

It's also not encouraged or advised unless there is an issue. It's an external elective surgery. There was a pro circumciser crying on the Project or a similar show about it a few years ago. Also the rate was never higher than the USA in Australia. But yes pretty much the opposite of what it is today vs what it was in the 50s and 60s. Lessening in the 70s and flipping from the 80s onwards.
