For every performer that is an asshole or outright criminal, there are likely several that either love being exhibitionists and having sex on film with other very attractive people, or they wanted/needed a revenue stream and porn acting was viable for them.

Sure, because of the stigma attached to it, porn is often a last resort for some folks in desperate need of cash.

There are plenty of assholes and criminals that are not porn actors. Holding it against people for performing sexual acts with other consenting adults is part of the problem. I would leave my child alone in the room with a former gay porn actor who is now an RN before I would leave them in a room alone with a Catholic priest.
