actually this whole racist discussion came about because of some alleged post by asher right? i wonder if there was more to the story that was not disclosed fully.
i am not saying racism is not possible but asher isn't exactly a fan favourite SC type to begin with anyway
people were very happy with the types like landon, chad etc as you shared above. as you mentioned, i think it goes back to the quality of the men recruited. SC was promoting athletic males type then, so anyone fits into that type was well received anyway. if somebody like asher was less well-liked, it could be just because his type doesn't already fit the athletic type to begin with (instead of race-related)
The post by Asher was correct. He deleted the original post but here are the replies. He makes valid points. He's taking a step back from porn and I won't be surprised with Deacon follows suit too.
Dale already left Sean Cody because he filmed with HotHouse about two weeks ago so diversity numbers are shrinking. At top of mind, the only POC they have are only Asher (Hispanic), Manny (Filipino, Jewish, and Spanish) and Cody Seiya, JC (Puerto Rican), and maybe Kyle (racially ambiguous)
Sean Cody needs to do better in upping their diversity. They are casting the same type of white guys that are interchangeable or have no personality or performance skill whatsoever. It will be a different story if these guys can actually perform. Wednesday's update is a good example. Clark and John Bronco are great on paper but the final product is trash.
Their problem is they are hiring lackluster white guys no matter what body type who looks hot on paper but cannot perform.
Another example, I am still ticked off about is what went down with the alleged drugs on the set incident with Kaleb and Murray. Kaleb survived and was pawned to Men and continued to work while Murray didn't get the invitation too and just showed up a year later to do one scene at ND. That's an example of white privilege. Kaleb got grace and Murray did not.
Sean Cody could take a risk and try to contract or hire POC models. It's very easy to do just put a casting call, talk to your current models, and search OF like they are doing or reach out to casting agents. They have no excuses because the resources and networks are there.
Sean Cody is losing its luster very fast. Soon Devy may be gone too. He posted something on Twitter about branching out to other studios soon.
While Gayhoopla has its problems, I do applaud them for having diversity in ethnicity and body types other studios cannot say the same. I think NextDoor studios is doing better and improving in the diversity department. Actually, I think they are just stealing the hot POC from Gayhoopla and hot models from there and showing them the light. They got Leon King and soon with Brock.
Men of color like myself would like just to see someone like us in porn in brands that we grew up on. It's not a hard ask if a company can attempt to try and they haven't post George Floyd. The opportunity needs to be there just like what movie studios are doing. I wish there was actually a mandate for porn studios to at least interview POC models, something that Disney does.
Sean Cody needs to improve their videography, hire more diverse talent and coach their models to actually work and perform (not phone it in) to see some growth.
