Because most guys (certainly including me) don't look like the guys in the pictures.

The guys in those pictures are fitness models, and I would wager the photos are professionally taken with a camera crew. Though anyone can purchase a pair of speedos, The vast majority of men will in no way look like the men in those photos. You are honest, and that is a good thing. I would further wager an out of shape man ( me included ) would not exactly look like eye candy to women on a beach wearing them

In my younger days when I had the body of a Greek god, I wore the smallest swim suit I could find on the beach and loved having two small white triangles of I un-tanned skin front and back. For swimming, I wore standard racer briefs but these days I wear jammers.
