Tenoch Huerta

Ppl need to take these acusations to court before they bring it to the public attention. I'm tired of having to decide if someone is a bad person just based off of an allegation. I just cant. Should I know cancel him ?

I'm just exhausted.
sorry to hear that someone’s alleged experience of sexual abuse is such an inconvenience to you. what a self centred take

that issue needs to go before the courts... if true the person deserves justice

until then y'all should reframe from destroying this mans life over an unverified claim

it doesnt need to go anywhere but where the victim wants it to and you’re tonedeaf for doubling down. idk who ‘yall’ is cuz i havent said or done shit until now but you can stop bending over backwards to defend a potential sexual assaulter - how do you verify allegations of someone else’s sexual abuse? i see your spirit

Potential victim. I wouldn't for a second deny someone's sexual assault claim but they can't just make a claim and expect everyone to believe them regardless, as there have been too many false accusations directed at too many people. There's a legal process to follow based on witness accounts , the character of the accused etc. If it's true, then it needs to be dealt with appropriately. You can't just 'cancel' someone because of an, as of now, unproven accusation.

Who's doing the "canceling"? I assume Marvel will do their due diligence and investigate the credibility of these accusations before making any important decision (even if they thoroughly failed at vetting him before they cast him in the first place, since his questionable tweets were doing the rounds for a long time), as would the legal system if it gets to that.

As for the public, each of us is perfectly within our rights to take the woman at her word or not. Personally, I choose to believe victims.

ok einstein i was never cancelling him and i wasnt actually asking the question. ofc theres a legal process but thats clearly not the only way to make a claim and idk if you’ve considered that the potential (which was implied ) victim just doesnt want to take it to court? dont mention character of the accused either bc we dont know these people personally at all and theyre capable of anything

“this is unfair for tenoch and it hurts to see him tarnished even if i dont know him and this could all be true” or “dont cancel him lets see what the courts say” are such insensitive things to say. the accuser survived an acid attack years ago organised by her ex bf and called out the org protecting tenoch’s actions. shes brave for that and wouldnt risk her safety for nothing so this dickriding just isnt a good look. cancel culture doesnt exist especially not for wealthy men and he’s gonna be fine whether all of this is true or not, but the accuser? not so much. believe women.

Yes because the comics oversexualized their characters a lot
I don't know if this particular example counts as oversexualization considering that Namor has been that way since the much more conservative time of the 1940s.

Yeah, but Namor is super ripped AND wears only a speedo.
Not to mention he should’ve been played by an Asian or Asian/white actor. Speaking from the comic book purist perspective that I come from.

A statement from him

Remember, there's crazy, manipulative people out there, regardless of gender, sexuality or ethnicity. So there's also people who are willing to do anything to destroy an ex-partner's reputation.
María Elena Ríos is an activist against violence towards women and a survivor of domestic violence in the form of an acid attack herself. Why would she lie and risk her reputation and her cause just for this?

Agreed, I was firmly on the Henry Golding or Daniel Henney camp myself.

That doesn't mean she won't lie? It's a perfect opportunity to push her agenda as he getting popularity recently and she just came out with this statement right after? I don't stand with either side but blindly believe one side story with 0 evidence and ended up condemning either site is simply stupid. People need to wait for actual facts to come out before with hunting.

What "hunting"? Is choosing to believe a victim "hunting" now? Everyone is well within their rights to believe whoever they want. It's not as if me believing her is going to sway Marvel or the legal system in any way, so why do *I* need to wait for facts, as if I was some legal counsel? It's called the court of public *opinion* for a reason.

Namor was drawn in what was practical for him. A swimsuit signaled exactly what his realm was and where he was most at home. Sadly, looking at the old art, he was never sexualized. Most artists at the time were straight men who enjoyed drawing action-y scenes involving males, and good girl art, which is why his cousin Namora was always drawn beautifully and "sexualized".

Yeah exactly, why would she? I don't know her personally, neither do I know Tenoch personally so they could both be fucked up human beings for all that we know.

I’m in no way taking a stance on this at the moment but the court of public opinion is an extremely flawed and subjective concept.
