The tim k thread (RIP)

A community and family mourned the passing of Anthony Markley. By all accounts Tony was loved and admired, a bright and gentle soul. Tony was the manager of a local Gold's gym in Charles Town West Virginia and his sudden passing on December 23,2020 left all in shock and disbelief. Tony was 29 years old at the time of his death.

Tony had drive, ambition, and was an inspiration to those that knew him. Tony suffered from scleroderma. Tony’s mother shared “Barr explained that Tony’s scleroderma was en coup de sabre, a term used when linear scleroderma affects the forehead, that’s why he always wore a hat”.

Readers will be more familiar with Tim K, the name Tony used for several flexing and muscle worship videos. He had a larger than life presence on screen, his dedication to fitness and his joy for life was apparent. We join his friends and family in mourning his untimely passing. May his memory be a blessing for all those that knew him.

Does that mean he actually didn't have financial problems?
Tony a/k/a Tim K had scleroderma which was a hardening of the skin caused by excess collagen. His mother reported that he wore caps to cover up an area of his forehead that had this condition. Scleroderma may lead to the formation of an aneurysm, and the abnormal growth of collagen may protect it from early rupture, allowing it to reach a large size. Whether Tony knew he had an aneurysm in advance is unknown but it is suspected that his Scleroderma was the cause of it. It was reported that an aneurysm rupture in his brain was his cause of death.

Hard to believe he has passed and so young at 29.

Scleroderma has no cure and there are no drugs to treat it that do not carry additional risks. There is not a lot of informattion about it and when it begins to form aneurysms the survival rate is low. I do not know how long Tony knew that he had an aneurysm or if it was just sudden with no advance warning. Not sure if there was a history of Scleroderma in his family as it can be caused by immune system problems and environmental triggers besides genetics. Tony was in great shape and it really was a shame for him to pass at only 29.

Not sure, but we have this idea about Americans being overly religious, extremely jingoistic and not bright enough to develop a non-emotional fact based critical thinking skills hence why evangelical Christianity still rules a sizeable chunks of their politics and public sphere while it dead down in most other western countries. For example, making fun of American televangelists and their obvious scams was a reoccurring theme on tv while growing up.
I like this, but, it isn't about being bright. Lots of smart people fall into religion, cults, and are prone to conspiracy theories.

Also, the "yankee" part of Christian-Yankee is not great, as it alludes to be a Northerner. While American folx are religious in all the states, there is definitely a stronger outward expression of it in the Southern states. "Christian-Hick" would be better.

I say this as someone with two very intelligent siblings whose choices in media, religion, and politics encouraged their decisions not to get vaccinated, so now they have to take four shots of a med to alleviate the effects of COVID infections rather than two shots that would have prevented it in the first place. I want to yell at them for being morons, except they're not stupid. Just willfully ignorant.

As for Tim K, I can fell sorry that he is gone without absolving him of scamming people. Not many obits of the average joe, albeit a hot one, are going to focus on the shitting things people did.

I like the Minister from Tennessee who will throw you out of his Church and excommunicate you from the religion if you dare wear a face mask in "his" Church. With so much stupid out there how will people ever overcome the COVID epidemic? It is not just that this Minister is ignorant but he is dangerous. Where will he be when someone gets sick with COVID listening to his orders not to wear a face mask in a crowded church service? Will he pay your hospital bill or pay your family wages you lost while you are in a hospital on a ventilator?

This isn't a "COVID proves how fundamentalist religions and misinformation are dangerous with actual lives lost" thread, but I started it LOL.
If we listen to the scientists, they're suggesting either folx will get vaccinated or get infected and that is how we will get past this phase of the epidemic, unfortunately with a lot of entirely preventable death in the process.

So the really stupid will just die? I guess that is the choice they make as long as nobody who was trying to stay healthy and doing the right thing does not go down with the morons.

K. Last post where I derail this thread.
No. Some folx will die that got vaccinated. Looking at the data for who is in the ICUs in hospitals with COVID, ~90+% are not vaccinated, but that means up to a small percentage are and have breakthrough infections with serious infections.

That is not data on deaths, but there are folx that got vaccinated, a small percentage that are getting seriously ill when they do catch it. And let's not skip the children who cannot get vaccinated currently.

Also, lots of folx, like (I hope.) my family members, will get COVID, recover, and have some immunity, just not as much as if they took the vaccine. (My adult niece has had COVID twice now in 6 months.) They all live in a very "red state" and watch Fox news as their single source of information. You can do the math on that one.

The same folx complaining about the COVID business restrictions are the ones refusing to do what is needed to get us back to a state where those safety restrictions can be lifted.

Everyone is allowed to drink. But we're not allowed to be drunk and drive, which endangers others. It seems simple enough, take a shot, wear a mask for the sake of others, but yeah, fucking willful ignorance and believing "Jesus will protect me."

Religions, cults and conspiracy theories all rely on EMOTIONS, misinformation and a SEVERE lack in critical thinking skills to become mainstream which is why I said "not bright enough to develop a non-emotional fact based critical thinking skills..etc"

The term Yank or Yankee which was originally developed in Great Britain and the Netherlands during the 1700s to refer to the North American colonists. In my country of Australia, these terms bare the original meaning and describe the entire US not a region of it.
