i think it's nice that dohertys character is portrayed confidently with his sexuality right from the start in the series - that would have encouraged me as a teenager, if i had watched it back then! chuck and dan are openly bisexual in the GG-books and they totally cut that out in the original, so i hope they show more queer scenes this time
twitter thinks that dohertys character will have an affair with one of the male teachers - since they cast openly gay actor jason gotay as one of the teachers and they were spotted filming some scenes together - which i think is waaay hotter than this whole threesome/poly/love triangle thing

i think genera+ion did it well, because the student was obsessed with the teacher but the teacher immediately nipped it in the bud because despite the student already being 18, there's still a huge power dynamic issue going on there, especially considering the teacher is his counselor.
gossip girl is a messy thing, very much like melrose place and 90210, so it wouldn't surprise me if they did end up going that route
