I don't think it's fake. His childhood best friend (who he's still best friends with) is gay and quite feminine. He has multiple gay friends as well. Thomas also worked at a gay bar in his late teens/early 20s I think. Even his personality alone is very gay friendly, he doesn't show one once of toxic masculinity, and this was even before his gg role. Honestly that pic of him with the flag doesn't seem fake at all given the aforementioned, seems totally right up his alley to do that.

It’s not fake, he’s always been supportive of LGBT, my thoughts on why he said he had to rethink everything he’d been taught is most likely on his own personal experiences

Correct and there’s the fact that when you’re playing this kind of role you learn so much. Like you’re taught one way to be accepting and all of that but you also get a feel of what LGBTQ people go through. I think a lot of people when they’re playing these kind of characters they like to talk to gay people and get a take on their experience so that way they can play the role authentically(not everybody does this but a select few do). So I’m guessing he learned a lot before and during playing this role, which is awesome.

Well actor interviews don't reveal that much about the actor's personal life lol, it's mostly focused on the actor in relation to their work. To get to know an actor a little better you would have to follow them on social media, tune in to their livestreams etc. There are some uploaded livestreams from him on youtube. I think that all the available livestreams on youtube where he's interacting with males, the guys are gay. There's 2 of them where he's talking with the aforementioned gay friend. Amongst the cast of the show, he's also quite close with Jason Gotay (the one playing the teacher his character likes). I think he's someone that grew up with a lot of gay people around him, so he's very comfortable with them, that's why I was shocked that some people suspected that flag pic was fake. If you know him a bit, that's absolutely an activity he would engage in.

His character is definitely going to be interesting because he’s a very sexually fluid person. He knows his friend wants him and he’s not above kind of teasing him about it. The question is will he actually pursue sleeping with his friend? Like it makes you wonder. I think I’ve seen this before. I feel like they’re going to end up together in the end though. They have good chemistry. The shy friend questioning his sexuality and the one who doesn’t care about sexuality and just goes for it.

But I also feel that Max may be afraid of commitment too because he doesn’t want to get his heart broken it has had it broken before. He may even convince himself that he’s in love with the teacher or he’s just using him as a conquest. Regardless I’m loving Max and Ali’s friendship and what could turn into more.
