Timothée chalamet

Chalamet is a Gen Z thing. Wiser heads realise that. He'll win his 'popularity' awards for sure, but I don't think the Academy will ever reward him. Di Caprico is ten times the better actor and it took ages for him to even get a trophy.
I disagree. He is not just a gen z thing; Hollywood loves him. I mean, he literally just won a SAG award, which was voted for by other actors—most of whom are older than him. Also, two Oscar noms for best actor at age 29 is amazing. Especially considering that he got both nominations while being younger than Brody was when he set the record for the youngest to win.
It will most likely be a while until it happens, but he will win eventually.

SAG is no longer an 'actors' body. It has 160,000 members with the amalgamation with AFTRA. Essentially your local panel operator at your local FM station now votes in SAG. That's why Chalamet won and why he lost the Oscar because that body is only some 9,000 members, more professional, more highbrow.

Okay, but he also has two nominations at the “more professional, more highbrow” award show at age 29. I think he’s on the right track.

ngl timmy campaigned so fkn hard this season it was both admirable and embarrassing in retrospect, he put as much effort in being in everything everywhere all at once as he did in his performances. The thing he surprisingly didn’t realize (or didn’t care about maybe?) is that the Academy voters wouldn’t care about all that smoke and mirrors show. Now his chance to be the youngest oscar best actor winner is gone for good. It’s really sad.

But that shameless campaigning did at least boost his likability enough to score him that sag award i guess so it’s not a complete waste. I’m betting he’ll take a backseat from the public eye now tho since he doesn’t have to try so hard anymore.

Academy wouldn't care? No one would be campaigning if the Academy didn't want that kind of lobbying, it's so dumb. Don't understand nominees having to campaign, they already did their work

I agree. It will be interesting to see if he goes to the upcoming Met Museum Costume Gala, and if he goes, what will he wear.
