There’s a very spoilery thing that happens to the Adrian Brody’s character in the movie that came out nowhere that basically assured him of winning the Oscar, it’s the same thing that won one of Jodie Foster’s Oscars for her.

Tim-o-tee campaigned quite shamelessly to get the award and it worked with SAG but they are a pretty low brow branch now with near 160,000 members. The vast majority now not actors.
Oscar voters only number 9,905 members. It's more exclusive, professional and highbrow.
Sometimes the best performance wins and triumphs over social media pressure.
Same thing happened with Anthony Hopkins over the pressure for Boseman to get it because he was dead.
Brody was just way better than Chalamet.

For next projects, I'd like to see another book adaptation, or even a graphic novel one. DiCaprio warned him off superhero movies, but there's a whole beloved medium there.
