Tyler and Greg really weren’t in contention to medal to begin with. Their program didn’t have a high degree of difficulty. Even if they would have averaged 8s on every single dive, they still would have finished in 4th place. GB and Mexico had dives of 3.8 and 3.9. Tyler and Greg’s highest was a 3.5.
And also, the dive that Greg missed, Tyler didn’t exactly nail either. Tyler’s score was only a 5.5.
For rounds 3-6, their highest scoring dive was a 73.4, which also was 4th place Italy’s lowest scoring dive. I’m just being realistic that Greg’s one mistake was not the reason USA didn’t medal. They’re just not on the same level as the other countries.
