Americans have cultivated a reputation for being prudes but the above demonstrates they can be just as open minded as the rest of us when they want to be.

Yeah, I think it stems mostly from this code for Hollywood and the TV. It has fallen out of use now, but the big majors still won't take risks about frontal in their movies or TV shows.
Obviously you can't infer that most Americans are prude from the fact that relatively few executives at the majors or channels are, or imagine the public to be.

Maybe true, but the test audience and the censors that grade the films according to how appropriate things are, have alot to say. Apparently mass shootings, gore, mayhem, death and horror is still preferable to nudity and sex in the US.
