What was the most popular underwear style for men in your younger years? What about in your country?

Ditto. I added colored FTL briefs in the '70s, also tried bikini briefs. Back then, no young guys that I knew wore boxers. They were dad's underwear. Midway briefs from Sears catalog (now called boxer briefs) were uncommon. Boxerbriefs as we know them today took off in the late '90s.
Agree with you. Back in the 80s boxers were associated with grandpa's or nerds' underwear, especially white or light-colored boxers. Cool guys use to wear white briefs, colored briefs, or bikini briefs. They were the "hip and cool" underwear at the time. If you watch any 80s teen or college movies, you're gonna see that the jocks are always wearing briefs. Then in the '90s plaid boxers became trendy and gradually white briefs became the uncool underwear. Now it's all about boxer-briefs and trunks. I guess, that in one or two decades when this generation of young guys become dads, their kids would find boxer briefs uncool and some other style of underwear will replace them to become the new hip and cool one. And that's the circle of life, or fashion I must say.

In the UK, generally branded Boxer-Briefs / Trunks, such as from CK, and other similar brands, although you will see internet brands like from Step One, On That Ass (I had two pairs from here, no real pouch to speak of, they was crap!), Comfort Republic etc in the longer conforming Boxer style to be pretty common too.

Growing up in the 80's, I was Briefs till I hit my early teens, then went all out boxers till around my mid 30's.

For me being 47, I now stick to Briefs / Boxer-Briefs / Boxers / Trunks from Sunspel, H&M / Primark (These two, despite being at the cheap end, are surprisingly good, and certainly the Rick & Morty ones I have, all come from the same supplier, Difused), and Jockmail (For Jocks)

In high school in the late 70s early 80s, boxers were the underwear of choice for most guys, including myself. Tight jeans or cords, and in the warmer weather tight short shorts, especially Op canvas shorts. Bulges galore, and sometimes you’d see junk looking up the inside leg, or even hanging out.

I would have to say that white Yfronts were most popular, when I was a teen.

Because I was so large, even then, I wore a swimmer's jockstrap as underwear.
Poor Horsehung, a hard life because of a big dick, even in your teen time, I am sorry for you!

North east, us. Early mid 90s White Briefs trough middle school, switched to boxers for a week hated them. Then boxer/ briefs for high school. High school boxer and boxer briefs most popular I switched back to briefs in my 30’s wish I never stoped.
briefs by far most comfortable and Practical.

East Coast US here, similar (without the boxers detour)... White FoftheL growing up, in high school got into basic color briefs either FTL or Hanes. Later HS and 20s started going with boxerbriefs and also trying out some bikini styles like Poco or Elance by Jockey.
Definitely have kept up the variety and even managed to get one pair of regular boxers in the mix of about 30 pairs or every other style. ;)

Found this random video on youtube from 2009. Wasn't sure which thread to best share it in. The student doesn't actually wear the boxer-briefs, but it's good fun if you enjoy watching a guy sniff, lick and play with his own underwear, in public!;):emoji_thumbsup:

Definitely a time when boxers became super popular, just because singers/rappers and Hollywood usually showed guys in those. Glad boxerbriefs and trunks are more popular now!
this was like literally a few years ago. I still much prefer boxers, hate briefs

It's interesting to read your comments @justaguy218 , you definitely stand with #TeamBoxers
No argument here, as I'm sure you and many others have your preference for loose boxers, for comfort, style or whatever reason.
PS: It says you're "Pending Deletion" , that sounds kinda messed up.

Now I mostly have jockey bikini briefs, jockey briefs and exoffico briefs.

In Ireland mostly hipsters and boxers since I was in school for the most part. See more briefs now but still majority would wear hipsters.

Cool, sounds like a fun collection, @dgm ! I haven't tried exofficio underwear, but they look sexy. Recently got some Mack weldon as a gift. They're comfy undies, but not that sexy looking, in my opinion.
I see a number of guys on Instagram wearing Box underwear, they look kind of sexy, but I'm not big on labels or anything too trendy. Basic Jockey briefs and bikinis are still super sexy to me!
