I was just wondering: where can college guys pose nude now that Playgirl is no longer really a thing? I mean, I know there are a lot of porn sites like Corbin Fisher or Fratmen (I’m showing my age!) where guys can make money for participating in unlikely sexual scenarios.

But what about guys who just want to show off their bodies? What if guys just want to have some clean fun, work with professional photographers, and maybe get some campus cred? Where can they pose?

Daniel Nardicio briefly restarted it to much fanfare in 2010, with celebrity centerfolds and a GREAT “Campus Hunks” issue featuring Brent Walker. He drove the “Shaggin Wagon” across the US and met with hundreds of college guys who were eager to pose nude, saying that many of them just came up to the van to take off their shirts and show their abs. So the need is there.

I’ve worked at a small college for decades, and I see lots of guys who I would rock the “Campus Hunks” issue of Playgirl magazines of yore. But Playgirl, at least as I knew it growing up, no longer exists. Yes, it’s been re-launched in Italy, but it has almost no media presence, and I don’t think they even have a “Campus Hunks” issue anymore.

Can anyone suggest alternatives to Playgirl, especially for college-aged guys? Or young guys who might want some experience in modeling?

Playgirl for me tried to communicate a subtle reality of the men who posed in it, and that is the definition of art- truth through beauty.

Thank you!

(Incidentally, people interested in my reflections on college guys’ physicality and behavior in the locker room can check out my thread: "For the Love of College Boys":

I am founding this group to explore various examples and types of locker room behavior among college boys, of the 18-21 age range. Some of these posts are adopted from ones that I wrote under a now-deleted account (accidental). I’d like to share essays that explore the theme of college boys and nudity, as well as touch on the various attitudes, and comfort levels, that a college kid may have towards his own penis. This is, hopefully, the first instalment of many in this series.

Case study 1: Boys who make eye contact before disrobing.

There’s an interesting subliminal lingo that occurs between guys in a locker room. Here’s one example: I was getting dressed after a hard work out and a nice hot shower when an underclassman, a young guy, maybe nineteen years old came up to the locker next to mine. He was wearing a baseball cap, a “Qatar club” soccer shirt, and shorts. He walked with the wobbly grace of a young foal; many college guys are still getting used to their new adult bodies. He had a slightly dimpled chin.

He looked at me and cocked his head slightly to one side, meaning “I’m about to take off all my clothes, I’m about to get naked.” I raised my eyebrows and flexed the fingers of my right hand without lifting up my arm, almost in a ‘hi’ gesture, meaning, “Cool, man- let’s have a look at you.”

He took off his shoes and hat first and then peeled off his shirt. I saw he had a light to creamy olive complexion with some gold flakes, maybe he had some Greek or Italian blood. But his nipples were a little dark which might point to some Latino ancestry, too. Then he “dropped his drawers” with a quick downward thrust and his circumcised penis popped out. I was surprised because he had such mild, delicate features but his penis was a big oaf!

He walked to the scale, weighed himself, and then walked back, without bothering to cover himself even with his hands. I saw his penis didn’t swing much, it seemed heavy. His penis had gravity, confidence and a sense of purpose. I could tell this kid would get a lot done in life. He had the features of a boy but the penis of a MAN.

One of the most fascinating things about college boys is that their privates have already reached maturity, while the rest of their bodies slowly grows and ripens into manhood by slow but marvelous degrees.

(Young men are often described as “oafs” and I’m calling his penis an ‘oaf’. One thing young men have in common with oafs is that they are not very verbal; they have trouble articulating themselves in words. That's why young men so often express themselves through either anger or sex. Sometimes the only way to reach boys and oafs is through gentle tickling : )

Case study 2: Boys who keep their eyes down when getting naked in front of older men.

Tommy and Aaron are two friends of mine from the college. They both played lacrosse in high school but don’t play any more in college. They are both underclassmen. Once I was getting changed into my gym outfit when both boys came out of the shower, in towels. They both said hi to me and then dropped their towels and started drying off. We had a nice conversation about how their academic year was going, while they were toweling off and changing. I noticed they kept their eyes down or averted the whole time, I suppose out of respect. That made it easier for me to focus on their ding-a-lings!

Tommy, who is blond and taller, had a larger penis than Aaron did, but Aaron was more of a man- he spent more time in the gym and had better definition in his chest and abs. Also, his voice had lost most of its post-adolescent scratchiness in its higher registers whereas Tommy still had some squeaks in his.

And if he wasn’t as well-endowed as Tommy, he certainly could deliver the mail! I’d take a package from him any time!

Again, Tommy had a slender, angular body and a bigger penis. I was trying to choose which of them I’d like to share a sleeping bag with on a cold night when another college boy walked up to his locker, just in front of me, turned around and, after whipping off his shirt, dropped his pants to show a perfect, sculpted eighteen-year old ass! I was stunned! College kids front and back! Even in the Garden of Eden can you find such a rapture of boys?

Case study three: How college boys hide their glans in the shower

“Glans” is a technical term; it refers to the head of the penis. For circumcised men, at least, the glans is what gives the penis its character. It is also the part that college boys are most modest about showing. Let’s explore some of the ways college kids try to conceal their glans.

I was taking a shower when some of the varsity soccer boys came in, after practice. Most of them chose the stalls, but dropped their towels a few feet away, thus affording me a look at their muscular and surprisingly hairy behinds (most college boys don't have much hair on their asses). A *very* handsome young man with brown curly hair and medium build, chose a shower head next to mine, took off his towel, and then immediately espaliered his penis against his abdomen with his left hand, so the glans was roughly opposite his navel, and covered by his palm.

The advantage to this strategy is that it does hide the glans. Unfortunately for the boy, but luckily for me, it afforded me a front-row ticket to his balls! I rarely get to study a young man’s testicles, so his moving the penis out of the way gave me the chance to admire his aptly-named family jewels. Another disadvantage is that eventually, he has to remove his hand to properly wash the penis or to towel off. So, I did see his glans anyway. This is clearly not a winning strategy for maintaining privacy.

Another time, after a basketball tournament, I noticed two boys walking to the shower, one a few feet behind the other. Both of them were naked. One boy was cupping his genitals with one hand, which is inefficient and doesn't really cover the beauty, while the other boy was touching himself! The second boy, by dandling his penis with his fingers, was being masculine and totally appropriate, while the first boy must have some internalized insecurity about the young male sex drive. But he was brave enough to be naked so hat's off to him!

Finally, there are college guys who are so secure in their manhood that they don’t try to hide their glans at all.

Once I saw two visiting college wrestlers in the shower. It was early in the morning, and the two boys were relaxing in the shower before a long day of matches. One kid was Latino, the other boy was bi-racial. He had a more or less Caucasian skin tone, but with the rounded lips and somewhat flattened nose common to people of African heritage. The Latino boy was handsome, angular, and had a good-sized dong, but his friend was in a whole other league! The second boy’s penis stuck out in a mock-erection, at an acute angle. I don’t know how well he does on the mat, but he’s certainly a winner under the covers!

I got an almost immediate erection. Usually when I get an erection in the shower, I just leave. But this time, I just faced the wall and counted to a hundred, waiting for my erection to go down. It didn’t. Finally, I had to turn around again. The mulatto boy was still there. He saw my erection and he just smiled! I noticed that his penis was up-cocked at an even sharper angle; his body responded sympathetically to my erection!

After so many years of loving college boys for all their raw, innocent power, and their sweetness and joy, it was gratifying to me for one of them to see my erection, and to smile, and respond with his own arousal. It was like mutual appreciation. I was thanking him for his beauty, and he was thanking me for admiring his elemental maleness, his virility. It connects back to my original point about the subliminal lingo between guys in the locker room. A beautiful thing.

Thanks, but I don't think Instagram allows nudity, and also it'd be nice if there was a paper edition of said periodical, not just web based. The need is there, and so is the market. If no such circular exists, then maybe someone here could create one! Just a thought...

Closing bookstores and newsstands, discontinuing printing machinery parts, and astronomically raising the cost of paper and ink should be the final steps of dissuading anyone from getting any ideas of resurrecting adult print media.

I 'used' to have multiple magazine subscriptions over the past decades. When advertising got to point that articles were fewer and fewer, the actual magazine became thinner and thinner, I finally let my multi-year subscriptions expire. Mind, I had some subscriptions 10 years ahead at some point.
The actual cost of subscription wasn't the reason for me discontinuing, it was the content. Look at newspapers. In my area, you used to see individuals standing on street corners EVERY Sunday selling Sunday Issues 3 inches thick. Now those Sunday issues are barely 1/4" thick. Hell, even the Thanksgiving Day 'Super-Special' Issue is barely worth looking at any longer.
The days of anything paper and ink are long gone. As far as Colleges selling Books any longer, WOO-HOO! Never forget DUMPING HUNDREDS of DOLLARS at College Bookstore every Semester! I'd be DAMN HAPPY to 'rent' a Kindle Edition!
Though I certainly would love to see someone advertising for College Hunks 'posing', I've no idea how it would be done in today's world.

I'm a photographer on Model Mayhem, and they can certainly do it there. There's even a nude picture of the day contest where they can compete. Its free and fun and they may even land a paying gig to show off their hot body. Any college-aged guy looking to do a nude shoot is certainly welcome to contact me either here or on gmail at califotoz.

There's also the works of photographers like Rick Day, Jake_OD, studio jenkins, david vance. They all have twitters you can peruse.
Finally, playgirl is apparently coming back and they have an active instagram
Excellent information, I'm really grateful

Perhaps the solution is for photographers to go to their local universities and colleges and create calendars or blogs of their student models. Campusmen.com used to do that with an annual calendar for Ohio state men, but they don't seem any longer active.

I can *wholeheartedly* recommend Campbell photography (Themaleformbycp.com).

Outstanding photography devoted to the college male body. Great sensitivity to college boys, his photographs have a rare interiority and depth, as well as a remarkable beauty.

Mostly young men from Alabama. Exceptional work.

See Bryan Campbell's Twitter and Instagram as well.

Having worked at adult bookstores before the actual magazine side has been declining for a long time now. Digital is the way to go and most showing off books sell as higher end photobooks such as the Warwick Rowers. etc. I will second Instagram, Tiktok, there are a ton of digital options and I am sure notable photographers will print some off, etc.

The other side of that something I noticed before I elft said adult bookstore is people preferred digital things for lack of evidence when they passed on. Older customers didn't want their family finding copies of Honcho, Hugs, Black Inches, etc. lying around .

I can't advise here, but I CAN say I almost posed for Playgirl in the early 80's for one of their college issues. I was the close to picking up the phone and failing, but then my good sense kicked in. Too bad...

Sounds like you deprived the world of your 'talents', @opinionman
Not going to ask you to post any private / personal pics here, but if you feel comfortable in doing so, would be cool to at least see a face pic of you from that era.
