Where can college guys pose nude (In post-Playgirl world)

I was just wondering: where can college guys pose nude now that Playgirl is no longer really a thing? I mean, I know there are a lot of porn sites like Corbin Fisher or Fratmen (I’m showing my age!) where guys can make money for participating in unlikely sexual scenarios.

But what about guys who just want to show off their bodies? What if guys just want to have some clean fun, work with professional photographers, and maybe get some campus cred? Where can they pose?

Daniel Nardicio briefly restarted it to much fanfare in 2010, with celebrity centerfolds and a GREAT “Campus Hunks” issue featuring Brent Walker. He drove the “Shaggin Wagon” across the US and met with hundreds of college guys who were eager to pose nude, saying that many of them just came up to the van to take off their shirts and show their abs. So the need is there.

I’ve worked at a small college for decades, and I see lots of guys who I would rock the “Campus Hunks” issue of Playgirl magazines of yore. But Playgirl, at least as I knew it growing up, no longer exists. Yes, it’s been re-launched in Italy, but it has almost no media presence, and I don’t think they even have a “Campus Hunks” issue anymore.

Can anyone suggest alternatives to Playgirl, especially for college-aged guys? Or young guys who might want some experience in modeling?

Playgirl for me tried to communicate a subtle reality of the men who posed in it, and that is the definition of art- truth through beauty.

Thank you!

Some cool suggestions in this thread and it would be great if this sparks an interest in someone starting up a new periodical or web-based magazine!
If anyone is interested, feel free to send me a private msg. I'd be up for finding a way to start a project like this and I know of at least one photographer who would be interested.

I haven't checked out the relaunched version, though you may want to check out 'Butt' magazine from the Netherlands.

It's a bit like the modern version of Physique Pictorial

Why not start a group on Dudesude.com or here for example? LPSG has a massive following.

As others have already chimed in, if the person is currently attending university and wants to pose nude, the first thing should be to check out their art department so model as a male nude model for drawing/painting/illustrating classes.

Next, if the person wants to try the editorial/commercial nude model route, this is bordering on classy homoeroticism, there are many photographers on social media to hit up and see if they are "modeling testing" or in need of nude male models for their personal photography projects.

As ALWAYS, anyone should GOOGLE-SEARCH everyone they meet online. Ask for references.

Finally, if the person wants the full on pornographic work, well, the OP already knows about SC/CF/Etc. Those sites have model submission sections and you simply have to submit the images and hope for any callbacks.

More importantly and this is depending on the person's preferences, discuss and have in writing the levels of nudity. For example, someone is OK with being fully nude with the penis showing; however, due to personal and professional reasons, the person is adamant on cropped images or playfully teasing images in the final product. With this, make sure the photographer has agreed on the framing and composition and the model has every right to inspect and check photo compositions.

This type of trust and honesty is paramount between photographer-model relationship.

Someone mentioned Mr. Day and Mr. Jenkins. These two have been on a unspoken "Blacklisted" photographer via an online vigilante by the name of "Shit Model Management" via IG and Twitter. The personal goes by username "shitmodelmgmt" on both IG and Twitter. Check that person's list. The person takes submissions from several anonymous and sometimes real name sources and made into a Blacklist compilation of photographers and people to avoid.

Think sexual assault level of touchiness. Mr. Day is especially known to fluff and even perform fellatio on his guys. He is a known predator and should NOT be recommended.

Excellent information, I'm really grateful
Google search these photographers and if you decide to model for them, exercise extreme caution and draw lines on what's OK and what's not OK. There is an unspoken "Blacklist" published by an online vigilant who goes by "shitmodelmgmt" on social media.

Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/shitmodelmgmt

at-mentions and search on Twitter for reports to "shitmodelmgmt" handle account: https://twitter.com/search?q=@shitmodelmgmt&src=typed_query&f=live

Be safe and I hope you find modeling nude fulfilling and artistic freedom.

Sounds like you deprived the world of your 'talents', @opinionman
Not going to ask you to post any private / personal pics here, but if you feel comfortable in doing so, would be cool to at least see a face pic of you from that era.
Alas, I don't even know how to do that! And yeah, the world was definitely deprived of viewing my beauty when I decided not to pose. Poor world...

Don't know if this has already been asked and answered, but why would you want someone to work with photographers who appear on a list like what you shared??? :emoji_thinking: :(

That's why I provided a warning-to-an warning, that if the OP or who ever wants to model for the people blacklisted, it's NOT like I could stop them. But..if they overide and decide to model anyway, thus taking risk(s), I reminded them to remain vigilant and put their foot downs on what's OK and what's not OK.

Does that make sense?

A lot of us in the LPSG knows who Mr. Rick Day is. As much as his images of man are masterfully created and retouched (Iet's now kid ourselves, he retouch his images in anatomical areas)....he is a known predator! There is an Advocate magazine article on him by several male models.

That doesn't mean that Mr. Day will 100% cross lines on every single male model agents like Jason Kanner sends him. Make sense? He and other predators on the blacklist are aware and they would be selective on who and what they could do.

That's why the warning I've provided, while sharing the "unspoken blacklist."

Perhaps the solution is for photographers to go to their local universities and colleges and create calendars or blogs of their student models. Campusmen.com used to do that with an annual calendar for Ohio state men, but they don't seem any longer active.

I can *wholeheartedly* recommend Campbell photography (Themaleformbycp.com).

Outstanding photography devoted to the college male body. Great sensitivity to college boys, his photographs have a rare interiority and depth, as well as a remarkable beauty.

Mostly young men from Alabama. Exceptional work.

See Bryan Campbell's Twitter and Instagram as well.
I actually messaged him awhile ago and sent pics of me and he seemed to like them. He seemed like he was down to do a photoshoot with me. One of these days when I'm down there Im definitely going to give him a heads up and do it, pretty excited

Not directly at you, but I was rather unimpressed with Mr. Campbell's images of men. They look tacky and not on the majestic male photography level of Rick Day or Tony Duran.

Yes, I know Mr. Day is a known predator; however let's not kid ourselves that his images men are unparalleled and turns heads.

Thank you for the information. I just wish there was a more central, and not-exclusively Internet-based publication where college guys (and guys in general) could show their bodies and still be treated in a dignified way. Playgirl filled that need.

Magazines like Playgirl, Playboy, Penthouse, etc. could never feature more than a hundred or so models in any given year, thus the chances of any particular individual such as yourself getting published were and still are just about nil.

At the other end of the spectrum, Onlyfans and other sites have unlimited capacity and the only bar to getting "published" and recognized is you putting the effort into it.

Shocked how many important photographers are on that list and it's due to the MeToo movement running rampant and without critical oversight;
Bruce Weber, Testino, Tom Ford, Sorrenti, Peter Beard, ??!! come on

This is considered "shocking" to the general public; however, to some of us (albeit small and/or on the lower rungs of the industry ladders) are aware to this grapevine news about Weber and Testino from shoptalk. We simply didn't go out issuing PSAs and only warn our closest friends/acquaintances a warning to remain vigilante. Mr. Testino made news shortly after several articles about Mr. Webber came out via the NY Times.

This thread got off on a bit of a tangent, but back to the initial point about where can younger guys pose nude in a post-Playgirl world?

I still think #Buttmagazine would be a good space to try. Definitely not as glossy and sleek as the most recent iterations of Playgirl, but definitely sexy! Also, unlike Playgirl, it's definitely an M4M type space so plenty of focus on more than just physique-type shots and more horny coverage. :imp:

Back in the early 80s, Playgirl came to my campus looking for guys to pose for one of the Campus Hunks issues. Three of my fraternity brothers were eager to do it. They were great-looking, somewhat muscular, with nice endowments and since we were in that era, had big bushes. All three "auditioned" for a Playgirl photographer, each claiming to get fully naked during their appointments.

None were selected, checking a few egos. A guy who appeared full-frontal in the magazine was in one of my classes the following year. I don't think he was a BMOC.

I looked forward to buying a Playgirl when I was of age, but I was chicken until I saw one of their "special issues" on a magazine stand at an IGA. The cashier did not notice it was in my cart, to my great relief. I enjoyed that first issue since there were many previous centerfold models within its pages.

Any chance you have some photos of your days in the fraternity and these eager Playgirl Campus Hunk models?
Which model did appear, if you don't mind saying? I didn't get my first Playgirl until the mid 1990s and I thought the Campus Hunk feature was new then, but maybe they also did it in the 1980s?

Depends on where you are located. As someone else suggested, you could create a "model" account on Model Mayhem and seek photographers in your area who specialize in male nudes. Or you could create a profile on a dating app where you indicate in your interests that you are interested in posing for naked photos. Some colleges hire guys to model nude for art classes, and some gay bars have a similar "sip and paint" night. Most of them are forced to require models wear briefs or a jockstrap, but there may be private clubs that can allow for full nudity. And if you network enough, maybe you can find some wealthier gays who will hire you as a nude waiter or bartender at a party.

Pretty sure that old creep Bruce Weber exists long before Playgirl. Sell your soul to him and go be nude for his 'books'. Though Bruce Weber has a taste of his own, he won't simply choose any random nudist who knocks on his door. Lol!
No, they have to be an "Abercrombie type" *runs*
