Why are so many British guys Circumcised?

Are you cut? is it common in South Africa?

I am cut. There are differences within the cultural groups in South Africa. The white Boers (Who speak Afrikaans and are mostly descendants from Europe (Holland/Germany) tend to not be circumcised. The white English speaking who are mostly British descendants are usually circumcised / uncircumcised at about 50%.
There are 9 official black languages which include Zulu and 8 others. Culturally there are differences and some of the cultures do circumcise (some using household objects) and some don't. Unfortunately many lads die every year due to circumcision initiation rites.

I'm curious to know why so many British guys have been circumcised. Here in the UK it's only usually done at birth if you're Jewish or Muslim. I had my circumcision done when I was old enough to make up my own mind about it.

When I see dicks in communal showers or changing rooms I would estimate about 30% of the guys have cut dicks. Clearly they are not all Jewish and Muslim!

So have they all been cut because at some point their foreskin was too tight and has had to be removed for medical reasons?

Or are there guys who are choosing to get their dick cut for their own preference?

While I do think circumcision is a positive thing, it does surprise me how many British guys don't have a foreskin, given it's hardly ever done at birth except for religious reasons.

Most African men in the UK are cut too, including me. It's just a cultural thing.

I was born in 1949 when circumcision was still almost routine anoung middle class boys. It was recommended by doctors and done before mum and babe left hospital. At my up market boarding school over 75% of us were cut.

I’m from London. Me personally? I’m Jewish, do the maths. In my specific locality, most guys are cut. Why? (This is excluding men who immigrated as adults or were cut to treat a medical issue.)

1) High Jewish and Muslim(-culture) population.
2) It was common until the 70s, initially in upper classes to match the royal family, then more so in the inbetween era of modern plumbing being commonplace, and newer tech.

I was born in late 1984 - I used to play football and swim. I used communal showers when I did sport and I always use urinals. (Troughs are still common in Europe, and in my childhood, showing your penis to other males was masculine.)

A lot of these guys I grew up with, that were not Jewish nor Muslim, were cut simply because their dads were (whether the dads were snipped for reason 2 or because they were adult immigrants from Africa and what have you). That is it. This isn’t really a thing anymore though in this country. I don’t think I would get a son cut though even though both my fiancé and I am Jewish.

It is a local thing, mainly in parts of London, Bradford, and Manchester. I only know about the island of Britain btw, not Ireland (Northern or not.)

At school in 1940s and 50s all of us were uncut - except one. That one guy was not usually in out class and I saw hiom on the showers and thought how odd he looked and later real.osed he was cut. Numbers I am talking of - about 60. All over 18s and in school showers

It is locality related.

Circumcision is class related even more than locality related. In upper class and upper middle class areas, most boys were circumcised before their mum left the hospital in which they were born. At my up market public school (private school in US terms) in 1950s about 75% of us were cut. The Royal Family were all circumcised. Contrary to rumour at the time, William and Harry were both cut at birth.

I live in the South Wales valleys and of the men, who frequent my gym: I'd say about half have been circumcised. All of them are Welsh; none are Jews/Muslims and all are aged between 18 and 40. When speaking with other lads my age (mid 30s), it is surprising how common circumcision is, in this area: with many of my mates (whom I have known since childhood) having been cut, either in their late teens or as adults.

I know a few lads from Wales and they're all cut too, except for one. They all chose to get circumcised in their 20s, mainly for aesthetic reasons - you see so many cut dicks everywhere from porn to celebrities and I think there's definitely peer pressure to have the perfect body. These young guys are easily influenced, especially some of the stuff they watch on tiktok etc.

In the UK, Czechia, and Poland (and quite often Latin America too), the men in porn are usually cut. I think it’s a HIV thing as cut men are allegedly less prone to it. Porn isn’t reality and I’m referring to proper studios here, not random lads with a camera filming amateur stuff.
