He's in an awkward spot - too old to play Hulkling, but too young to play Apollo... if a Midnighter and Apollo movie were made like in 5-6 years from now, he'd be the perfect age then.
I'd say Angel is the best option. Angel's age seems to fluctuate in the comics, and he could fit that nebulous medium range between young adult and mature adult.

I really like this guy. He’s hot, young and talented. I really don’t understand why his career hasn’t blowed up yet. If Hollywood is still acting cautious towards gay actors in 2024 is such a shame
In interviews, he comes across dumb as a rock, but maybe he’s just not very articulate. But that might be the reason that he cannot do promotions of the movies well

You kind of need a big breakout role these days to really get ahead and stand out, and a mainstream enough role too, don't think he's had that yet. Something like a Heartstopper or a Wednesday level popularity, he's not had the luck of landing that hit role just yet unfortunately.

I still think he'd be the perfect choice to play Oliver Queen in a Green Arrow project (as long as he can play straight). And hell, maybe Apollo and Midnighter will be around the same age as Superman, so Zane could definitely still play Apollo (I always read him as being a few years younger than Midnighter anyway)
Him being publicly gay is definitely a major factor, but his body is too. He is much more wide and muscular than your average Hollywood star, so that will limit the roles he's considered for.

I’m not sure about that. So many leading actors have the same great body and that actually is a big plus, not a problem. Think of Henry Cavill, Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans, Chris Pratt. The “beefcake” has been around for ages and that’s big part of how Hollywood works
Except all of them were the main leads in big franchise movies, for which Zane would never be considered for because he is gay and those other men are not (at least publicly). The beefcake stereotype exists mostly to swoon female audiences. And in the minds of Hollywood execs, women would not swoon over someone they know is gay, so all those straight beefcake roles are unavailable for Zane, which leaves him little else to work with.

Yeah but it’s ridiculous in 2024 gay men cannot play male leading parts yet. We live in an over “pc” world where actors don’t get chosen because of talent anymore, but because they’re social cases. And when an actor has all the right cards to have a successful career he gets discarded because of his homosexuality. Again it’s 2024,, what’s even straight or gay anymore?

I apologize if some people have a brain and like to discuss further things beside drooling over a very large bulge or an ass made of steel
what i find ridiculous is people thinking that because it's 2024 the world is super accepting and gay actors should have a much easier time landing gigs, especially big main character blockbuster gigs.
there's like 200 countries in the world and only about 30 with legalized same sex marriage. and marriage equality is literally only the tip of the iceberg, because it doesn't mean shit if the country hasn't passed any other laws to protect the lgbt community. not to mention countries with lgbt laws are still faced with plenty of opposition.
there's still countries that demand any movie that has any form of lgbt representation for it to either be censored or fully removed or they won't show the movie.
studio execs don't just think about what the liberal american audience wants to see. they gotta think what the conservative american audience want to see and what the audiences outside the u.s want to see. and those execs are, for the most part, old people, and a lot of them still have the mindset that a gay man can't lure in a female audience as a heartthrob and can't lure in a male audience as someone they aspire to be.
this type of discussion has been ongoing for like a decade and hardly anything has changed. and in another decade, maybe things will be slightly better, but it'll still be the same. so it's just the same conversation over and over again
