Why unbelievable? I expected this from the start. It is what happens all the time in US trials, especially when a "celebrity" with the means is involved. There was no way any juicy details would emerge.

because in his mom's eyes he probably didn't do anything wrong. he's telling the story as him being the hero, that he saved his friend who was being sexually harassed. so she's not likely to do or say anything to him to set him straight, since he has probably led her to believe chris was a victim, cam a hero and the gay dude the villain
