The writer wrote the role to be a Korean American, not just a person with Asian identity. So they cast it specifically as that. I don't know, it makes a whole bunch of difference if you're a Person of Color, the identities/cultures are very different and aren't interchangable.
May December is a work of fiction not a biography, it incorporates just that scandal into one of the scenes, Charles' character isn't based on the Samoan, he's made up by the writer.

Imho, I believe it was a really well done CGI moment. I thought it could’ve been a prosthetic but something about the movement and the interaction with her leg suggests me it’s CGI.

Yep. I actually got your joke at the beginning because I wouldn't be surprised if his agent is shaking or panicking right now since they will be fighting for the same roles. An Oscar nomination would instantly get him a leg up if they are looking for an Asian actor for a lead role. He would still have to audition of course, but it would definitely help his career.

I think we'll discuss whatever we wish to discuss. Especially since mainstream actors in nonporn movies of the past have filmed real sex scenes with real intercourse and they survived and are doing well.
If they are that uncomfortable about having sex in order to accurately portray a role in a movie that revolves around sex maybe they should reconsider their careers then. European mainstream actors and indie films have had real sex scenes as you said and are doing fine, not "traumatized". Sorry, but this was of the weakest counter-arguments to my original comment.
