Edison Fan

I think the pinned comment on Instagram was like “black people don’t exist huh” if I remember.

Most non black people when they see something like that they read it in an aggressive tone (y’all know what I mean) and automatically go in a defensive mode like they are a victim.

It was just a mess. He’s like “you could’ve just suggested movies nicely” and bitch you could’ve just been like “you right next time I’ll make a better effort to include black queer films” and keep it moving lol I’m over him.

He is gorgeous. I am assuming he is Filipino. I know another Filipino celebrity named Edison. I wonder how an anglicized name got popular there when it is an inventor's last name and not popular here. Curious.

Sorry this flew over your head. People are so quick to accuse him of racism because he doesn't name a black queer movie. And yet they can't name a single gay Asian movie without looking it up on google. See the hypocrisy? Do you need your hand held? Log off.

And yes people in these comments directly called him a racist or insinuated it.

I know you're used to bullying white Americans into capitulating to your race, but he's a Chinese living in China. Not including black queers isn't more of a sin than not including Muslim or SE Asians; in fact none of this would be controversial there.

And you can try to cancel him, but he's making his money in the Chinese market where people would at best ignore at worst celebrate the exclusion of your people. So go on, keep hating and ranting and unfollowing and cancelling and none would matter. Meanwhile all the normal people (of any race) will just keep thirsting after him and ignore his personality without you. How you can't see how your little bullying power is useless outside your own shit circle...
Wow such a mature and convincing reply...I guess you're used to people immediately repent so long you throw out random accusations so can't come up with a single argument when they actually give a response huh?

And honey, go back to your safe spaces. It's extra rude to come to an Asian celebrity thread, unrelentingly rant about anti-Black racism while dismissing all talks of anti-Asian bias. Answer his question: can you name a single Asian queer film without Googling, and are you a racist for being unable to do so?

The Chinese has a name of the types of edgy little white progressives you see so many here: Baizuo or 白左, literally "white leftists." They correctly identified that the US progressive politics of the day is dominated by young mostly-white educated "progressive" leftists, whereas poll after poll shows that Black Americans in the US are in general more moderate/conservative than the young liberals. So it's really funny, per their own definition their own movement is racist, since these progressive orgs elevate the views of young whites over those actually held by the POC community at large, and so results in white supremacist outcomes. So to be an anti-racist is to dismantle their own movement...

these micro aggressions are wild lol thanks for all that.

I'd just like to reiterate (since it seems to be lost on a few of you) that NOBODY here called Edison racist. We simply believe he could've reacted better to someone saying he could've been more inclusive.

I just literally posted a screenshot of it. And people certainly insinuated it and at the same time making broad brush comments like Asians are racist.

This is EXACTLY the kind of gaslighting I was talking about - weaponizing racism and then backpedaling and gaslighting when called out.

My apologies! Ill be honest, I didn’t check the photo, I just assumed it was a screenshot of the instagram comments. Made an ass of myself there :D

That is one person is who I disagreed with from the start tho haha so if you have an issue with what they said, take it to them. I’m not going to answer for them, nor will I take responsibility for what you are insinuating from what I’m saying. I try to be as plain as I can and leave the subtext out. There’s no hidden agenda or message behind anything I’ve said here. If I wanted to label him racist, i’d do it. But I don’t want to and in haven’t.

I’m out now. You’re making a big deal out of something very small and I just don’t have the energy to keep going on about it.

but i seriously don't get why you have to act so pressed over this, everyone talked about their pov in a respectful manner, it's you that can't defend or shift the concept without trying to throw out hyperbole statements and general ridicule. But you do make a good point regarding why nobody mentioned the lack of muslim or south-east asians (aka asians that cannot or have no interest in adhering to colourism) and that is something i can admit i have less of knowledge on, regarding muslim queer cinema at least.

But acting like we're pushing 'cancel culture' + assuming what kind of race i am + assuming what kind of political views i have + bringing in false equivalence bullshit statements trying to move the goalpost akin to 'most blacks actually lean more conservative hurr durr' just shows me that you're just a tired old pressed f*g that cannot handle it when someone gives critique to someone you thirst after hits close to home. It's especially funny how you try to throw out how it doesn't mtter when he makes his money in china when, as of recent, the chinese government has been expanding it's censorship of queer media again, making this extra ironic.

But anyway here's your movies that i find specifically noteworthy, come hack my pc if you want proof i didn't google them ;) Happy Together, one of the most influential and important movies of (asian) queer cinema? the handmaiden was interesting too, although i was more interested in its set design and camerawork than anything else! Is that enough for you? just two asian queer movies that stood out to me personally :)

also people took more offense to his bullshit response after people pointed out how non-diverse his list was, not because of the list itself. And i'll say this again; i'll side-eye every single person that wants to act like call me by your name is a better or more important movie than moonlight when both released in a similar time and had similar responses with one of them just being a glorification of pedophilia, a concept that in itself is highly controversial for queer media by virtue of also being a classic homophobic dogwhistle.

But you're right, i'll still jerk off to his feed from time to time :)

Log off bro. You're clearly a troll and unstable.
i'd wager being unable to spell dickpig is more a sign of being unstable :)

Being unable to realize that someone used an intentional misspelling to get around the fact that someone else has the same handle is beyond obtuse and dumb.

Time to rest your little head.
