Harry Lawtey - Industry On Hbo

Pleasantly surprised by the renewal

Same here. The ratings are awful. But the on demand/delayed viewing numbers probably look good.

HBO did decide to release all episodes during Thanksgiving, which was a test to see what the viewership numbers would be for the show. Looks like they were very good during the holiday. I wouldn't be surprise if they do it again for Season 2.

The show is also very cheap to make as well and both HBO/and BBC are partners on it.

If you’re in the U.K. I just don’t understand why anyone would not just watch it on BBC iPlayer which would explain why the viewership ratings are bad on BBC Two. Series like this should only ever be released on iPlayer imo.

He looked like such a kept boy or a gay character in this scene. I expect him to slap Gus for bring home a sexy piece of ass and not offering him a piece.

Think in season 2 if Gus is no longer at Pierpont that Robert starts flirting/teasing Theo?
Theo would be that type of guy to finally come out and date another guy minutes later, driving Gus crazy. Just like guys that finally dump their long-term girlfriends just to marry the next girl they date for 5 minutes.

I fear Theo and Gus will be written out. I loved to cringe through their interactions. So much tension. I legit stressed when they fucked on the couch. Bitch your woman might hear or smell your ass when you come up the stairs. Also that poor couch.

It’ll be a shame is they do write out Gus and Theo. I think it’s an important storyline. While most people in the workplace are not in the closet I think the fact Theo is it goes to show how fairly confident, goodlooking, presumably smart people feel they can’t be themselves. It’s important to show that despite it being 2020 and every company having a diversity plan it hasn’t magically solved the issue.

I absolutely love Roberts character though. I have worked with a few guys like him. I started as a graduate for a bank in the City (completely different type of role to these young folk) and there were some lads who with their peers from day one were just so open with their sex life, and on a night out would have a lot of homoerotic banter. Robert is like this, although him getting a blow job from that young guy in the toilet has taken it to the next level.
