I cannot believe that Life magazine actually published photos showing nudity that had nothing to do with science, medicine, or foreign unique cultural practices.
They didn’t. But the original negatives from the archives were digitised. That’s why lots of them are blurred, out of focus, the like. More interesting is the fact that photographers were in the locker rooms and showers, and nobody cared. Different times, no prudes around

Thank you for the information. I knew those very revealing photos would not have been considered acceptable by Life, unless they had adhered to what could be called the National Geographic standard of nudity---i.e., they were of non--white foreigners like black African tribesmen or, perhaps, Japanese bathers.
